Car Seat Poncho?

In one of the previous discussions on car seats and winter coats, someone mentioned using a car seat poncho or going to buy one. Has anyone been using one yet? Owen haaaates hats with a passion, but will give up fighting with a hood since he can't pull it off. He also has quite a dislike for mittens, so until we get over that, I figure being able to cover up his arms and hands with the poncho may work.  I found a tutorial here to make one.
So, if you have used one, has it worked well for you or has it turned out to be cumbersome?

    I haven't used one but lots of people on CSFTL use them. The no sew double fleece ones seem to be the most popular.

    My mom made this one, and it is great!  The only thing she found was it was hard to sew on the hood using the given directions, but the alternate directions were great.

    I also made a no sew one, and posted it on ig.  Follow me at tthibs85, the picture has instructions under it.  I made it 4 layers because the fleece was a very light weight, and it gets cold where we live.

    So far we've loved the poncho, and even our dcp really likes it!

    This is the latest and greatest in carseat  compatable coats.. the local car seat techs in my area are really reccomending them..
