CIO method on grandparents

I am going on a trip to Newfoundland with my parents to see my family at the end of this month. Every time I feed DS (we BLW), my parents and I end up in a discussion over choking/gagging/ pieces being too big etc. It drives me batty! Anywho, while I normally give on it when I am their place (what do I care if they mash up his food, I mean, it's not like he hasn't been eating food in BLW style for 3 months now), I am now thinking that those 10 days with them x 3 meals a day plus snack may mean I will have to take a different approach. Do you think I could use the CIO method? Haha! But seriously, any suggestions? I am hoping I won't lose my mind here.

Re: CIO method on grandparents

  • Lol. I like it. Just let them CIO. They will get it eventually.

  • Hopefully after all this time of watching him eat and not choke, they'll learn firsthand how amazing BLW is!
  • @fishes they have seen him eat lots. And I keep reminding them that by now he would be getting finger foods anyways, so I can't understand why they keep wanting him to go backwards just so they can feel like he got mush. One day they puréed mashed potatoes! MASHED POTATOES!!!! (Okay, dramatic, I know). But I think for them it has nothing to do with how often they see him eating as he does. I purely think they just want to go through the fun of putting a spoon in his mouth for him. And I also got the okay from my doctor for BLW. You know what the weirdest part is, when they made supper for him the other day, they mushed up his carrots and potatoes, but gave him a hunk of pork to gnaw on.... Wha....?
