This sucks and sucks BAD! I cannot believe that your school district is doing this!
I know this is a "yes I've done that" question.. but have you contacted the Federal Pacer foundation? As a former SpEd teacher, I am MORTIFIED that you are going through this and they are not in any way shape or form thinking about the child in the situation!
TTC #2, Operative hysteroscopy March 2011; IVF #1 long lupron protocol April 2011-cancelled due to poor response; IVF #2 flare protocol May 2011=hospitalization due to abdominal hemorrhage during ER and no fert due to MFI issues. Moving onto international adoption from Moldova January 2013!
The problem is that the private school he was in didn't have the resources to provide for his special needs. We'd have to start fresh someplace new. I'm sure the district would love that, but his current teachers are actually doing a wonderful job, so we can't see moving him out of there because we have a beef with administration.
But he'll only have those teachers for like 2 weeks? I'm not meaning it negatively like this is what you *should* do, just asking what alternatives you have. But it sure seems like moving him 5 or 6 grades in a minute isn't a good option (as you know).
I take it your team is not going to take that decision lying down? (Good)
Sorry, Fred; I thought you were saying we should consider moving him rather than continue to fight. We've considered that many times, but since he doesn't know any of this is going on and his current placement is actually a great fit for him, we feel we have to continue fighting. I can't say more Han that right now (I try never to post more than the school knows, just in case), but hope to be able to update soon.
I'm so sorry you and your boys have to go through all this! They are certainly blessed to have such a strong Mamma that fights for them so hard. Also, thanks for the updates- I look for them to see how your battle is going.
I try to keep up so I apologize if this has been asked, but have you considered appealing to the superintendant of your school district? They are often very helpful and can go over principal's head. I remember my parents going to ours a few times.

Most of these dec scions are being made by the assistant superintendent of special services. The superintendent is aware o what's going on, but has to this point, refuse to respond or invoke himself, therefore condoning all this ludicrousness.
I should have known you would have thought of all this, but figured it was worth throwing out there. I'm so angry for you! The school system's job is to put the children's needs and well-being first, not their own agendas. As an EMom, it touches my heart to see your passion for your boys. I never doubted that adoptive moms are every ounce as passionate as bio moms, but seeing it in action gives me even more hope about my little girl's future. Just thought you should know that something positive comes from you sharing your struggles.

You are really sweet, and your words really touched me.

Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.
