Ok, I posted this already on the name board and got a very close results... and DH still cannot decided 100%. At this point we may go in with these two names until she is born. Which one do you like better? Anyone else have two names picked out and can't decided? I think I need to say these out loud a couple times for it to stick...

Guinevere Marie L....
Evangeline Marie L....

Re: Girl Name help... Poll

  • I think both are pretty, but I picked Evangeline because

    1) Guinevere makes me think of King Arthur's court and knights and fair maidens

    2) They're both a little long so I'm assuming she's going to end up with a nickname when she's little, and I like Eva, but am not sure what you would do for Guinevere... Gwinny?

  • We both like Eva or Evie for Evangeline. Guinevere would be Gwen... We are both leaning more towards Evangeline... but yes, they both are a bit much... Desmond vs Sebastian and Desmond won because Sebastian was a lot.

  • Evangeline is one of the names that we are strongly considering too! My husband is VERY Greek, so we have narrowed it down to Evangeline and Ilianna. Since our last name begins with a "V", I would use the nickname Evie for Evangeline (ironic that her initials would be E.V). I have absolutely no idea what you would use for a nickname for ilianna though!

So after all of that, yes, I love the name Evangeline.

Oh my neighbor's name is Gwen, not sure why I didn't think of that, lol. I still like Eva or Evie better :)

  • I really like them both, but I agree Evangeline might be a little easier for a kid.

  • So... you don't think with our son name Desmond... and with our daughter named Evangeline that people would make the connection to Lost? or being Lost fanatics, because we did like the show, but Desmond was not named after Desmond Hume maybe influanced... a friend of my made the connection... either I wouldn't have even thought about it.

  • I LOVE Evangeline. It was on our long list of names but since DD is Mia, I thought poor little Evangeline might be mad that her sister's name is so much easier to write. I love it though so that's my vote.

  • Evangeline....like from that newer Disney movie based in New Orleans. She's the brightest star in the sky that that little bug is in love with:)

    RE: LOST

That show is a distant memory, and definitely will be by the time she is in Kindergarten.  Choose the name you like.

This is my first association with Evangeline as well, so I think it's beautiful.

I do associate Evangeline with LOST, but I wouldn't have made the Evangeline-Desmond connection, because one is the actress and one is the character. And ditto PPs, no one your kids' age will likely make the connection.

Just don't have a third kid and name him Jack or Sawyer ;)

What legallyginger said. I was a big Lost fan but Evangeline is not an actual character on Lost so I didn't make the connection until you mentioned it.
