We did the CIO method with my son and it worked right away. After 2 nights he would fuss for a second then go to sleep... Now 3 months later, it no longer works... He just cries and screams. Breaks my heart but I don't know what to do. Anyone else experience this??
Re: For those who had success with CIO method...
Be consistent. We went through regressions when DD was teething, sick, sitting up, standing up, etc.. The CIO method I did consisted of soothing her by rubbing her back and leaving the room after about 30 seconds. I only ever picked her up when she was teething and/or sick and that was either to administer medicine or soothe her a little more/rock her when I could tell she was in pain/discomforted. I would immediately lay her down and leave the room. Sometimes I did stay a little longer in the room and rub her back.
If you did CIO and it worked, start it again and just be consistent. We still have a night or two where she wakes and I have to go in for a brief minute to soothe her and she falls back asleep, but that is very rare and often...so even if it has been months since he woke up in the middle of the night, use the same methods as before. Good luck!
