FTM Need nausea help!

My nausea is constant. At first it came in waves but I have been nauseous for about five days straight now. I've tried fruits, crackers, water, lemons, and anti acid meds. What can I do??

Re: FTM Need nausea help!

  • If it's something serious, you can always talk to your dr. They can prescribe you a safe medicine to take (i think, maybe, zofran?) don't quote me on that though.
But if you want to avoid meds, crackers, water... it stinks, i know :( just remember to keep hydrated.

  • I always found some relief from sour candies. There is a brand called PeggiePops that helped a bit. Truly eating frequent small snacks really did the trick for me.

  • Constantly nibbling on something, candies like peppermint, and for me smell gets me so a little vics vapor rub under the nose for when I will be doing a particularly smelly task.

Zofran is what worked for me. Sour lemon candy and lots of carbs . Feel better!

  • Zofran knocked me out, so I didn't use it too much, but I kind of suffered more then I should have doing that. Most helpful is constant snacks. Keep crackers by your bed (or whatever) in the morning so you can nip it right away as you're waking. ginger, that helped a bit. Those pregnancy sea bands didn't do jack.

i found a box of preggie pops at the store, but my nausea has been manageable so far, so I'm saving them for when I really need some relief.

  • Spearmint aromatherapy oils are supposed to help for nausea. We use those a ton at the hospital I work at for post-surgical nausea.
  • Zofran gave me such an awful headache that it wasn't worth the trade off... it works for some not for others. A friend of mine had some dr bonner's peppermint soap that she would sniff when she was feeling particularly nauseous and I'm definitely keeping that in mind... but one thing to remember is that nothing will really take it away :( I was on the hunt constantly for something to completely relieve the nausea, and nothing really did. It helped some, but was always in the background. It's hard, but it will be over soon enough!!! all good advice here from pp's too :)

  • Someone on here recommended jolly ranchers and that along with eating small meals throughout the day helped

Preggie Pops, aside from medicine, are the only thing that really helps me. It's almost instantaneous relief which is great. Plus they are actually pretty cheap. But yes small snacks through out the day and a lot of water help me. I feel the difference when I don't eat or drink as much as I think I should.

  • Huh. I didn't realize sour stuff helped with nausea. I mean, I've been eating sour stuff non-stop because that's all I feel like I can keep down; same with the last pregnancy. I feel like all I consumed that first trimester was lemonade and pickled bologna. But I never put two and two together.
  • With DS & with this pregnancy I constantly suck on hard candies. I haven't had any nausea yet & I am trying to tell myself it won't come
  • I can't get enough lemonade! It's helping my ridiculous thirst and my sour taste needs!
