any one have a LO that needed to get tubes? DS had 3 ear infections in a row, and antibiotics didnt help. While he is "fine" now and totally happy, no fever etc, we went to the pedi yest for our 9 mo check up and there is still fluid in his right ear. I need to take DS back in a month to see if its cleared up on its own but the pedi did plant the ear tubes seed and I am upset. I know its all from daycare and there is not much I can do abotu it right now. He said no doubt the hearing in his right ear has been affected by it, but didnt say anything about long term or permanent damage. I know tubes are common, my cousins son had them and its not a big deal. BUt of course I am upset and looking for some reassurance from people with experience. I am also upset that his hearing may be affected because of it. Stupid work and stupid daycare ugh. Mom guilt at its finest right now.
Re: ear tubes
DS1 has them, and it was not a big deal at all. It is so so common. I honestly wish we had done the procedures the very first time it was mentioned as an option for us becuase it would have saved us more ear infection drama. Like, we had to go to rocephin shots for one of his persistent ear infections. Shots every day for three days, NOT FUN. We waited to see if he "grew out of it" but he never really did. We ended up getting them right when he turned 2.
DS1 has had no long term impact on his hearing or speech and had no delays...
If DS2 goes down the same path, we are getting tube placed as soon as offered! I am so done with ear infections
DS1: Quinn - 10.22.10 and DS2: Cole - 01.18.13
we did the shots with the last ear infection...so brutal. i guess we will see what they say in a month. how long did your DS have them for? ive heard it varies
