Caring for a hyper 14 month old with a newborn...

I am going to join the Two under 2 club in a month or so and have been going through how the day to day will be.  I adopted a newborn last September and when she was only 6 months old, we got a huge surprise..that we were pregnant.  So they'll be less than 15 months apart.

We have a fairly open floor plan so it's been difficult to keep DD in one area.  We've baby proofed a ton and removed a lot of temptations, but it just seems that every time we take one thing away, she finds another thing to get in trouble with.  I've read it's too early to really discipline so I spend a lot of my days chasing her around redirecting her.

When DS arrives, I'm imagining how this will play out..while I'm BFing or putting him down for a nap, etc...
Any tips or suggestions?

    I just had a baby and have an active 15 month old. We bought one of those giant baby gates with a door that act as almost like a playpen. There's enough space for her to move around and we put some toys in there. She likes it and will play in there if I have to feed my son or change him, and I know since she can't open the door she will be safe in there. Babies r us has a few good ones. Ours is called north states baby gate. Good luck.

    Ha, we literally just put up that same gate, probably, an hour ago!  It's also North States.  But, it was to keep DD out of an area versus keeping her in an area.  Maybe I'll have to buy some more, but not sure it's big enough to close in the main living space...Thanks!

    Babyproof the crap out of your main living area. We didn't have chairs in our dining room for a while and the table was pushed to the wall because they would climb on the table and mess with the chandelier. We had our kitchen chairs belted to the table for a while. We don't have any end tables or lamps and any art work below light switch level is gone. It sucks but the kids and our stuff are safe. Things got interesting when my older son started climbing onto the kitchen counters. It will be survival mode for a while.

    We have a climber/slide in our finished basement. Ds spent a lot of time playing on that while I fed the baby. Other ideas if you have space are a mini trampoline with a bar to hold onto or a play tunnel.
