Re: Ten Things Tuesday!

  • 1. Snow Flurries are happening in Philly right now. We are not supposed to have any accumulation, but it is supposed to flurry most of the morning. It is making me feel like the holidays are upon us! While i am not so much a fan of being out in the cold/blustery weather, it is nice to feel like winter/holidays are almost here! :)

    2. I am very thankful for the support of so many wonderful folks on this board. I know that has been said by others a lot, but I feel the need to echo the sentiment today.

    3. My sisters and I have been emailing back and forth since yesterday trying to come up with a big Christmas gift that we can all go in on together for my mom this year. We each have a different idea of what we should get her, and at the moment we have not made any progress. We are all too stubborn for this.

    4. I am 11 weeks pregnant today!

    5. I have not been sleeping well lately. Again last night I woke up every couple of hours and tossed and turned and couldn't fall back to sleep. I can't figure out why this keeps happening, especially since I am soooo tired by bedtime, and I have been falling asleep quickly at night and sleeping soundly for the first couple of hours, but then I wake up and it is a battle to sleep after that. It is really starting to get to me. It has been over a week since I had a decent night's sleep. Why?!?!?!

    6. I think I might try a hot shower before bed tonight... maybe that will help...

    7. I am contemplating taking a 1/2 day off on Friday to go get my oil changed and car inspected. We have a long to-do list for the weekend, and this will be one less thing to worry about on Saturday. Plus I have a bunch of vaca time I have to use before the end of the year, so I better start planning some days...

    8. So far no nausea yet today. Super!

    9. Ok, in the spirit of thinking about the holidays, I am taking a poll: What is your favorite/most memorable gift that your spouse/partner has ever given you?

    10. Ok, one more poll question: For those who are or have been pregnant - where is the best place to buy maternity dress pants for work? I tried on a pair at Kohl's and I hated them. They were too short on me and sort of tapered at the bottom (which I hate). I now only have 1 pair of black dress pants (non-maternity) that still fit me semi-comfortably, but I am thinking I will be lucky if I can get another 2 weeks out of them, so I need to find another solution soon. I have just been wearing skirts and dresses half of the week and then these black pants once or twice a week. I could just buy the same non-maternity pants I have now in a size up, but I feel like that is a bandaid solution. I also am not a fan of the bellyband (sorry, I know some people love it)... I really like the maternity jeans I bought at Kohl's 2 weeks ago, and at this point those and yoga pants are the only comfortable pants that I own. Help! HAHA

  • 1. @KH826 - The best place I could find was Motherhood Maternity.  I'm 5'6" and they had regular length pants that I could wear with flats and then longs that worked for heels.  I also LOVED Old Navy's jeans.  Our Old Navy didn't have any dress pants in store and I never got around to buying them online.  The old Navy jeans never did the saggy butt look... which was really nice :)

    2. It's B's 27th birthday today!  After work we are going to go get her birthday present and go out to dinner with her mom and mom's boyfriend.

    3.  We are going to this new restaurant called Johnny's Italian Steakhouse.  It sounds amazing!  Steak and Italian?  What could be better?!

    4. I'm really excited to a be a part of the ornament exchange this year.  I can't wait!

    5. I found out last night that my mom "accidentally" invited my grandma to my house for Thanksgiving.  Although I'm really excited that everyone wants to be at my Thanksgiving, I'm starting to get nervous about the space needed for everyone.  Thanksgiving started as just B, N, and my parents, and then quickly added B's mom and boyfriend, my sister and her family, B's sister's family, and B's brother's family.  So now we are up to 22 people I think!  We will be borrowing some folding tables for sure!

    6. I really want to kick some butt at work and be very productive!  I'd really like to get ahead before the Holidays.

    7. I work in the internet department of a company with a shoe and home good catalogs.  We have a call center that takes complaints and orders and during the Holidays they call down non-call center employees to help answer phones.  We just got our scheduled shifts and each week we each have (3) 3 hour shifts.  UGH.  I don't do well with customer service.  I get so nervous because you always get that one person who thinks it's ok to yell at you.

    8.  I'm almost to my data limit for my phone this month but am dying to listen to comedy on Pandora (which is blocked on my work computer) so I might just risk going over my limit!

    9. I'm starving!

    10.  Wrapping it up with KH's other question.  When N was born B got my a necklace.  It's just a simple oval with diamonds that says "true love never ends".  A little backstory as to why this was so important to me...  B and I started hanging out literally the week that I found out I was pregnant.  N was not a planned child between B and I and honestly B didn't want kids at this point in her life.  It was a very rocky road before N was born because B and I were crazy about each other but not wanting a child is kind of a deal breaker.  This necklace was B's way of telling me she was all in and wasn't going anywhere and would love N as her own.  :)  I'm tearing up as I write it because of how much it means to me.
  • 1. I can't believe there is snow on the ground already!  I live in Ohio and we got about 2 inches last night.
    2. It's days like today I love that I do not have a long commute, as I have NO commute to work :-)
    3. Our plans for Thanksgiving are still up in the air, which is annoying for someone like me that likes to plan.  My wife's parents are supposed to come to dinner at our house, but they never commit until the last minute.  Then they are always late, like hours late!  So annoying!!!
    4. I am really frustrated with my cell phone.  I couldn't talk on my phone because the other person couldn't hardly hear me, everything was muffled.  I got a replacement and it was such a pain to transfer all my contacts, pictures, ect.  Now the new phone won't charge.  I am sure I am not alone that my cell phone serves as my alarm clock, soothing noise at night, and my connection to the world.  I just want it to work right!
    5. I already know what I am getting my wife for Christmas and this makes me very excited!
    6. There is a part of me that wishes we could just do our own holiday celebrations and not worry about extended family.  But then I realize that so many people don't have family and I should be thankful for mine, even if they do stress me out.
    7. We are still waiting to hear from the foster agency and it is becoming quite annoying!
    8. I am less nervous about my uterine laparoscopy on Thursday.  Thank you everyone for your encouraging and informational words :-)
    9. We really need to get another car.  I hate the process of buying a car even more then I hate spending money fixing cars
    10. I think we are going to buy a mini van, ugh.  But it is the smartest decision because we could get multiple children from the foster agency and we need to be prepared.

Have a wonderful day everyone!  For those that have a winter, stay warm!

  • 1. Chillin' at the ILs.  We have no plans today, which is kind of nice.

    2. Except that it's not even 9:30 and my wife is already telling me she's bored.

    3. We just spent some time planning our holiday party.  I'm looking forward to it.  We usually do it every year but didn't last year because I had just had my first miscarriage and was in no shape to attend a party, let alone host one.  Of course there is a risk of another loss before the party, but I'm trying to be optimistic.  It's not as if we can't cancel if we have to.

    4. I realized my co-worker is having surgery the day before my scheduled OB appointment and will be out for a week, so I have to re-schedule it for a week later.  That means it will be on my 1-year loss anniversary.  Ick.

    5. Speaking of my loss anniversary, I am getting major deja vu this week.  Last year we went on vacation to my ILs in November when I was 6w pregnant.  We did a lot of the same things we are doing this year, including eating at some of the same restaurants.  When I remember that trip last year, I always think about how I thought I was pregnant and really it was already not viable.  Being here this year in November at 5w pregnant feels...eerie.  I am just hoping history does not repeat itself this time.

    6. Pregnancy after loss is hard.  Pregnancy after two losses really messes with your head.

    7. We are heading into NYC tomorrow.  I've never been with my wife (despite going to NJ with her all the time to visit family) and haven't been at all since 2004.  I'm looking forward to good food and museums.

    8. We also get to meet my BFF for breakfast on Thursday, which is exciting!  She lives in Chicago now but will be in NYC for work this week.  It is pure dumb luck that we are going to be there at the same time.

    9. My MIL has been showing me old family pictures.  She totally looks like Jennifer Garner in her wedding photos.

    10. I should take a shower since the wife is getting antsy.  I think we're heading to Target to pick up some stuff I forgot to bring.  Have a good day, everyone!

  • 1. K is working really close to home today so I get to see her at lunch and much sooner after work!

    2. I'm working the early shift this week so even though I have to be working at 7am I am done at 3 and can lounge and watch TV.

    3. K & I are taking a cake decorating class with her mom. I actually really like. I am not artistic at all and thought this would be an epic fail, but I'm really enjoying myself. The hardest part is not being able to eat any of it!

    4. I got a call from my doctor today and my A1C went down 1 whole point (which is big!) and my thyroid is in the normal range. I still think we will wait until my next appointment (in February) to see if my levels are good enough to start trying. I think the extra 3 months of eating healthy & weight loss will help tremendously.

    5. My work has offered us crazy overtime from the end of November - end of December. I am taking as much as I can get to save for baby.

    6. I am itching to go on a vacation!

    7. Our pups are so sweet when they're sleeping.

    8. I have NO idea what to get my wife for Christmas and it's stressing me out!!!

    9. @newmompeanut - I work in customer service...I feel your pain! My boss always says "Just imagine how they're family must feel dealing with them on a daily basis"

    10. Not ready for the snow :(

  • 1. I may not make it to ten since I am at work this morning but we shall see how it goes.

    2. First congrats @Amber&Reva, hope you have great second beta numbers.

    3. Been up most of the night last night cramping and uncomfortable.  Nothing that was progressing so I had to come into work today.  I am hoping the stress of the ER sends me into labor. 11/12/13 would be a great birthday for this little man.

    4. I am trying to have empathy while working today but at almost 39 weeks I keep wanting to say, "really? You came to the ER for this?" My poor patients.

    5. I am starting to get excited for. Christmas already.  I LOVE the holidays and the mall was already decorated this week when I was there.

    6. Oops... Didn't get very far, the masses are waking and coming in to be seen.  Have a good day all!

  • 1. Kaden just climbed the stairs by himself (something he can now do) and is exploring upstairs alone - I hear his footsteps echoing back and forth.  Our house is childproofed - thank goodness. Except for the stairs which we managed by showing him how to climbing/get down them safely.

    2. I have so many chores to do today its depressing. Bathrooms to clean, floors to sweep and mop (though that's a daily thing), dinner to cook, laundry to wash, fold and put away... the list goes on. It's a gray chilly day in Northern California and I don't feel like doing any of it.

    3. Drinking hot decaf black tea with cream and sugar is nice though.

    4. We have a bunch of things back in Roatan, and the bottom flat of our house where we were living is not quite move-in ready /rentable.  We're debating having me fly back in the coming weeks to pack up our stuff and put our other stuff in storage.  I don't know how I feel about going. Sure tropical paradise...  But we're still broke (I feel like we will be forever) and going alone won't be nearly as fun as going with EV and K.  I wish we could all afford to go, financially and EV's time off work (which since its a new job is a no go).  K's $300 carseat, my doppler, his toys, clothes, cloth diapers all make it worth a plane ticket just to retrieve the stuff.

    5. I plan on creating some fun activities for K in the coming days/weeks.   It's getting a little redundant being home most everyday and I want to have new activities to inspire him.  Pinterest has been great for ideas and one of the things I'm thinking of doing is making a sensory play box out of yarn and little objects.  We're also going to do some water play activities in the yard if it warms up later today.

    6. Thanksgiving and Christmas are still up in the air.  We're waiting to hear back from family to see what the plan will be, but most of our family isn't close by and EV's brother and wife usually do dinner with her family and dessert with us. We'll see what this year brings. I'm fine with a quiet Thanksgiving as long as there's turkey and all the fixings ;-)

    7. There has been talk about a trip to Disneyland around Christmas to visit our friends and their 15 month old daughter since they just moved to LA.

    8. Our friends are pregnant!!! We shared our donor with our friends (due date buddies with K, whom we met in an LGBT birthing class in the East Bay back in 2012).  They got knocked up the month after we did and are currently 11 weeks.  Since their daughter A was born 3 weeks early and K was 1 week late there is a good chance that our 2nd kids will actually be due date buddies this time around.  Anyway its this family that just moved to LA - booooo.  But it was a good move for them.

    9. I'm thrilled to K to have a half sibling/cousin.  The more family the better :-)

    10. Time to go figure out how to make goulash and get started on the chores.... Sigh. I guess I could do homework if the chores get boring....
  • 1. I have had two days off in a row and that has been wonderful!

    2. I have been fighting a gross cold for a couple of days, but I think I have been through the worst of it.

    3. We are 7dpiui. A got a fortune when we went out for Thai on Sunday that said "All of your planning will pay off." Maybe a good omen?

    4. No shave November is going well! I wonder how much it will actually grow...

    5. Today our niece decided to start "dancing" for the first time. She has been boogying every where!

    6. I vowed no running during this TWW and it is making me crazy.

    7. We went to see "The Way Way Back" yesterday and it may be the best movie I have seen this year... And we see a lot of movies.

    8. My work featured me in the wellness newsletter for running the half marathon. That felt very special!

    9. We got our marriage license in the mail last week. Although I had emailed HR and told them I was gettin legally married, and wanted them to help me figure out what that meant in terms of the DOMA ruling, I heard NOTHING back from them. They have out and out denied Same Sex benefits for years (which is said because an organization who is dedicated to helping girl's reach their full potential should also be open to equality.. End rant for now). But the HR lady didn't respond AT ALL. Not "we will look into this.." Not "this is a complicated issue..." Just no response at all... Makes me so mad.

    10. I am in trouble for doing TTT and not helping A clean... Yipes! Gotta go!

Baby Hayden Frances born 12/20/14 at 11:11 a.m...  Our perfect little miracle.  Here's how we got here:

  • 1. @KH826 - I never bought maternity work pants. I wore dresses through most of pregnancy and now I'm just wearing jeans. But, I had my eye on the maternity pants at a The Gap when I was considering it. And, 11 weeks - yay! @newmompeanut - I love your #10! Very sweet story. @ball.and.chain - I can only imagine how hard this is for you. Sending loads of positive thoughts and energy your way. @keepsawaythenargles - great news! Hope Feb rolls around fast for you! @mwagner25 - bless your heart. I can't even conceive of working in the ER at almost 39 weeks pregnant. I'm back at my desk job after 4 days off and I'm feeling really pissy about it. @herbabymama - makes me giggle that you thought jumping off a bench was better than lumbering down! Ah. But, I do feel badly about your bum foot and hope it recovers quickly.

    2. I made B&C's Brussel sprout pasta that she described in last week's GTKY. Holy yum. I forgot to add the garlic, but did add some raisins. It was really yummy. Next time I make it, I think I'll add shallots and pine nuts (and the garlic).

    3. Took the cats in for vaccs yesterday. I have been a bad mom and have not kept up with their yearly check ups or vaccines. They are indoor cats and always seem healthy, so it just hasn't been a priority. Figured with baby coming, though, that we needed to get then vaccinated. Turns out they both have teeth problems. The combined estimate to fix both of them is almost $1500!!!! Um, what?!?! Sigh. Haven't figured out what we're going to do yet.

    4. I don't know when I'm going to do holiday shopping. Lots of online shopping, I suppose. I did decide that I am going to make coasters for both sets of my parents. Z did some last year for friends. Buy tiles from Home Depot, print pics to size, and cover with some goopy stuff that I can't remember the name of. Will use pics of all the grand kids (including ours!).

    5. I hope we find the time and energy to put up a tree this year. I know it will be crazy with little one's arrival, but want some festive pics of his first Christmas!

    6. The best gift Z ever gave me was a photo book chronicling my running journey. It was a narrated photo book which included many moments of the 2 years between my first race and my marathon race. She put so much time and effort into it and her pride for me was so evident. Love, love, love it.

    7. I haven't felt even one BH contraction. I know I'm having then regardless of not feeling them, but feeling them occasionally would make me feel better, I think. My mom's story is that she was 8cm dilated and never went into labor with any of us - she was induced right around due date with all three of us, so no telling when she would have begun labor naturally. I have no idea if I'm dilated or effaced because my OB practice does not routinely conduct cervical checks.

    8. I actually feel really cute today. Quite a feat considering how pregnant I am! I'm wearing a non-maternity flowy sweatter that I felt was too big when I wasn't pregnant. It barely covers my belly now, but looks cute with my skinny jeans and flats. ;;)

    9. I feel like I'm going to be pretty useless at work today. I've been sitting here writing my TTT instead of working. Oops!

    10. Trying to get Bama used to sitting in the back of Z's SUV. When we got to our destination and stopped the car, she immediately jumped over the seat. We have some practicing to do.

  • 1. I'm not ready for the snow and icky roads!

    2. Tomorrow is my pre op appointment for my hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Hopefully the weather and roads will be good as we will be leaving by 6 am at the latest.

    3. We had a blow up with one of C's brother last night. We had a surprise birthday party for their Mom over the weekend and he had agreed to help with the cost. He then said he was broke and has bills to pay. Don't we all!?!?! He is 24 and not very responsible, yet criticizes us many times. I have held in my thoughts for the past two and a half years and finally let them fly last night after he wasn't so nice to C. We are done for the foreseeable future with him. He has said several things surrounding our relationship and marriage that have hurt us and we are just done. Sad, but necessary at this time.

    4. I am hoping for an easy day today.

    5. For lunch I am having cottage cheese with avocado, Cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. It is yummy and filling.

    6. I'm stressing to get everything wrapped up at work before the surgery. I know I will get it all done, but I feel like I'm in such a crunch.

    7. C and I were up late as a result of the fall out with her brother. I'm exhausted! An Iced Capp from Tim Hortons is calling my name!

    8. I'm hoping to get a fire going in the Woodstove tonight. I miss that heat. We haven't been home much to keep one going and it has been too warm during the days.

    9. I'm very thankful for my SIL. She is wonderful and we get along so well. I couldn't ask for a better SIL.

    10. I really am looking forward to a break from work. I have been getting irritated with some things and I think the time off will serve me well.

  • 1.  First big cold front of the year is here!!  It is going to be in the 20's tonight (which is a big deal in Texas, and apparently it hasn't gotten down that low this early ever).

    2.  I am sitting here at my desk sweating like crazy because "they" turned the heater on.  I threatened with seeing a pregnant woman strip down to nothing.

    3.  After my threat (hahaha) it is now a comfy 70 degrees and I am no longer sweating like a pig.  This time of year is always like that...

    4.  I discussed when I need to not go to scenes at work due to safety reasons with my boss today.  There are really only a couple more days that are of concern that I work alone and he is hoping that I make it through them without any type of "serious hazardous scenes".

    5.  My friends are throwing me a baby shower on December 14th at my house.  About a week before I am due.  My schedule is so crazy that this is the only day that it can be done between now and EDD.  I am excited about the shower, and glad that it is going to be at my house so I don't have to lug everything back with me.  Plus I will see if people want to help me organize!!  My mom says she is going to be able to make it as well so that makes me very happy :)

    6.  My fur baby is still having issues with allergies and breaking out all over her body.  I am taking her back to the vet on Thursday to see why all the medicine that I got the last time didn't fix it.  Everything is steming from her being on prednisone for so long when her back was hurt, but am I the only one that thinks that?  I am going to ask the vet about that.  I feel bad for her and she sounds like Thumper all.the.time!

    7.  Had a new craving the other day.  Strawberry milk.  I've never had it, and found powder that you pour into a glass of milk to make strawberry milk.  I tried it and it was exactly what I was wanting!  Have no idea where that came from or why!

    8.  People are now asking me if I really think I am going to make it to my due date.  Guess I am finally huge!! Lol, I have felt that way for a while now but people are now finally starting to agree with me.

    9.  I think bean turned to the head down position.  I am feeling pokes and touches in places that I didn't know that I had.  I will find out for sure next week.

    10.  Hope everyone is having a great week!!

  • I am two days late, but what the hell......

I have missed this board so!

    1. Glad to finally be back on the boards as work has been insane and I am too tired when I get home to even surf the net! BLAH, however, I am learning a lot and my chances of advancing are improving with the experience I am gaining.

    2. I HATE TWWs. No matter how much I try to relax, I just want to know!  Luckily I haven't peed on a million sticks (as I am only 3 dpiui) b/c I think my wife would kill me!

    3. We adopted the kitten we were fostering. Big surprise there. Both the wife and I are suckers when it comes to animals.  However, Jax is the sweetest little guy. He is finally 5 lbs and was able to get shots and fixed at the vets.  He loves to cuddle. Seriously, he runs to greet you at the door when you get home and then wants to be picked up and nuzzled. He also loves to lay in bed and "nurse" (I don't know what else to call it! He nuzzles into your neck and then suckles on the blanket we gave him). His purring motor is LOUD! and it actually helps calm my nerves during this TWW.

    4. My DW is already freaking out about Xmas dinner. We are hosting Christmas Day and dinner at our house for the first time and she is a mess!!  I keep teasing her that Thanksgiving hasn't even passed yet and she is already worrying about the end of December!

    5. Again...thought I would say "Screw you TWW!" LOL

    6. On a different note, the weather has finally started to cool down here in Florida. Actually got to use my scarves and sweaters! I have so many b/c I love scarfs but don't always have reason to use them.  Hopefully this cooler weather will stay around for a bit

    7. I love asparagus! I do not know why I fought this vegetable for soooo long. My DW grilled some last night and it was phenominal!

    8. Speaking of food, I need to grocery shop. It is not my favorite chore, but.... So I will need to start making a list as soon as I finish this! Priorities, right?

    9. The flu is running rampant around here and I am avoiding it as best as possible. My boss laughed at my industrial sized hand santizer bottle on my desk and the can of lysol and wipes I keep using after a sick kid leaves my office!  I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO BE SICK!

    10. We bought a new car a week ago and I love it. We got a 2014 hyundai sonata. I was really looking for another SUV, but drove this car and it is NICE. We got a great deal on it too. Now we are one step closer to being ready for a BFP !!
