Tachycardia Update

edited November 2013 in Pregnant after 35
Well I've been seeing a cardiologist concerning my fast heart rate. I've been on Procardia, but the cardiologist put me on Labetalol to help lower my heart rate. The Procardia was making my heart race but it's the only med that controls my pressure at this time. Anyway, I went for my follow up today and to talk about the test they've done. Well I'm happy to say that I have absolutely no heart problems. A lot is due from stress, which can wreck havoc on your body, and of course the Procardia was an issue to take by itself. My blood pressure and heart rate were also great. I'm just glad to know that's over because I've been scared.

Re: Tachycardia Update

  • That is wonderful news!
I have to speak to my doctor next week about my tachycardia. I was just resting o the couch earlier and my har started racing. I checked my pulse and I was at 115 (normal being 60-100) but I felt like i had been running around the house, which was so not the case since I'm on mod bed rest.

  • Thank you. I thought more was wrong. Are you on meds? I know they say it's a part of pregnancy but mine was like 140-160.

  • I take synthroid 125 mcg for hypothyroidism. I know it wasn't super fast but with everything else going on it scared me. It lasted like 40 min.
  • Everytime they checked my thyroid, it was fine. I read that cold water on the face and deep breathing exercise helps or even coughing a few times will ease it up. I've done them all.
It seemed like it worked sometimes. I know how you feel about being scared. It's a terrible feeling. How are you feeling now? Also I suffer from panic attacks. Have you had or do you suffer from them?

  • I have had panick attacks in the past but I haven't had one in like 6 years.
It passed after like 40 min. My best friend lives downstairs and she came up and kinda took my mind off it. Hasn't happened since.
  • That's good. I have to turn on music and lay down to ease my mind if no one is around.

  • I have troubles with fast HR (160 without memds) combined with low BP 80's over 50's). It really messes my drs up. All heart tests normal though.
  • Oh wow. No pain or anything though?
