Updated - June 2013 Mom Intro and Question

edited November 2013 in May 2013 Moms

Hi!  My name is Stefanie and I was originally due on June 10 but my daughter was born on May 20 at exactly 37 weeks.

I been lurking/searing around but I couldn't find an answer but is everyone's babies already rolling over?  Vanessa hasn't rolled over yet and I'm getting a little anxious.

TIA

**SHE ROLLED OVER!!!!  YAY!!!!  Yesterday she rolled over three times on her 6 month birthday!  Thank you everyone!

  • I know a lot of us have but not all. My little man has but not often. It was like once he did it a few times he was over it and really hasn't done it since (except these last two nights he's gone back to front and woken up screaming for us to turn him over)

  • Rachel has gone front to back, but I haven't see her go the other way yet.  She's a day older than your LO.

S has decided that she will skip rolling altogether. She's now sitting up on her own and leaning forward to get to stuff. She also screams at us if we even think about putting her on her back or tummy and is only happy sitting on her little tush.

Edit: S is born on the 5th, so a couple weeks before your LO. I didn't want to make you even more anxious by saying that she was already sitting up.

  • He rolls onto his tummy and then gets really mad about not being able to roll back, yet he rolls to his tummy as soon as I lay him on his back every time. This kid...
  • DD rolls both ways but she loves rolling onto her stomach. She prefers sitting up, standing up, and practicing her crawling lol.

  • Your LO might also be a little bit later with milestones if she born early... I know sometimes they say to follow EDD versus their actual birthdate.

  • Thank you everyone!  She loves to sit up and she hits all her other milestones but this one she hasn't done yet.  I have video of her trying but it seems like she is scared.  @AllisonO78I think I heard that before.

    Again thank you!

  • LO was born on the 28th, BUT 10 days overdue and she just started rolling within the last 2 weeks or so. I wasn't expecting it because she didn't even come close before. It just kinda happened out of nowhere!

Exactly this.  My guy who is 7.5 months actual age, almost 6 months adjusted age, just started rolling back to belly last weekend and sitting up unassisted on Monday.  He's right on track for his EDD, not his birthday.  Even though your LO wasn't technically a preemie, you might still find it helpful to think of her EDD for developmental milestones.

In the meantime, welcome to the May board.  We're a great group if I do say so!

  • My baby rolled over really early...at maybe 2.5 months from tummy to back and then later on from back to tummy. But every baby develops differently. We did (and still do) lots of tummy time. I am not sure if that helped or not.

  • Logan just starting rolling really consistently this week (at 6 months). He just discovered he can roll from his back to to tummy back to his back again. Before he would roll from his back to his tummy like once every few weeks, mostly by accident.
