S/O Dr. Gordon...

Wish me luck.  We are about to embark upon night 4 of Dr. Gordon's suggestions.  The first two nights went remarkably well, I thought, and last night was good too but not as smooth as the first two.

I'm a little apprehensive about tonight, though--no feeding, just picking up, consoling, etc.  My twins are 14 months and still wake every three hours to nurse.  I've held out as long as I could but I really just need to get some sleep at night.

Good vibes are appreciated!

  • Yessssss!  Update:

Day 6, babies slept from 12-6 without waking up!  Yeah!  I hope I'm not celebrating too early, but if it keeps going like this I will be a very happy lady.

  • Good for you! My 17mo just wasn't ready. It failed miserably.
  • We are on the last few nights.  They've gone ok.  For example, DS only woke once, at 1 am but went back to sleep fairly quickly.  DD however, woke up a couple of times and was harder to calm down. I caved in and went ahead and fed them at 6 instead of waiting till 7 because I thought they would sleep in longer (they did).

I just had to accept the fact that they will cry a little.  Usually, just a few minutes after I'm out of the door they fall right asleep.  I'm just really really hoping that DD will adjust in the next few nights.

Whenever I tried anything else sleep related before this, it did not work, for anyone.  Now it seems like we're getting somewhere.  Fingers crossed!
  • Good for you! We Ferberized our daughter in less than a week and we haven't had a problem keeping with a sleep schedule yet. When my daughter was 6 months old we would have her in bed by 10, she'd wake up at 3 and then be up for the day at 6. When she no longer required the 3am feeding, I would get up and give her a sippy of water. After 2 nights, the 3 am feeding was no longer worth waking up for so she started sleeping thru the night.
