What would you do...

So I got my first visit from AF in July. Got it again the last day of August and had AF until September 25th. I haven't had a visit from AF since then. I know that this can be normal to have an abnormal cycle when you're PP. But the more that DH and I talk about trying for another baby, the more I think that maybe I need to talk with my doctor? What would you ladies do? Let it run it's course or reach out to your obgyn?

Re: What would you do...

  • I'd buy a quick test or go to the doctor, whichever is easier for you. Just to put your mind at ease at least and know an answer.

  • I took a test, it was negative.

I think I might just see what happens until the end of the year and then call my doc if things don't start to find a normal rhythm.
  • I'd be more concerned by the length of that period than anything else - are you telling me that you bled for almost a month, outside of post-baby bleeding?  I'd probably put a call into my doc about that.

    This.

One of my friends had an extra heavy period and bled for about 10-12 days awhile ago. It turned out to be a miscarriage of a baby she didn't even know about. Hope that's not the case for you.

  • I did not bleed every day for the entire month and I also never bled heavily. So I didn't think it was a miscarriage. It was just very light sporadic bleeding for a month.
  • I believe the "rule of thumb" is to call your doctor if you go 60 days without a period or BFP.

  • Did you BF? I'm sure that can mess it up more.

None the less, it's very easy for the OB to run a CD 3 and a CD 21 or 23 day blood draw and determine if you've ovulated. In other words, a few simple blood tests may get you some answers.

That being said I may wait it out a few more months and see if I regulated.

And I actually just got my period this evening. Very relieved. If it's anything like my last cycle, I'll be making an appointment.
