Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 and a half weeks old and starts crying all the time

This is just a vent.

My sweet little pea that I brought home from the hospital has turned into a crying nightmare. Always crying when he's awake. I talked to the doctor about it and she indicated I just have to put up with it. I feel so helpless - I wish I could soothe him. I have tried everything and the only thing that works is to push him around the neighborhood in the stroller - which I don't have the energy to do at 3 in the morning.

:(

Re: 2 and a half weeks old and starts crying all the time

  • Why not bring the stroller in the house and push him around the house and when he sleeps leave him for a bit while you sleep on a couch next to lo

  • Sorry you are having a tough time.  I have not tried it but I heard suggestions of putting the car seat on top of the dryer while it is running.  The vibrations from the dryer might be similar to the stroller.  Good luck I hope he gets calms down for you.

  • That was happening with my baby and everyone just kept telling me it was colic. I finally listened to my gut and took LO to the pedi. Turns out he had reflux and needed medication. He is so much better now. Listen to your gut and maybe go to a new pedi.

    *Everyone Welcome*

  • Talk to your pediatrician about reflux. Get a second opinion if you have to.

Have you played with white noise?

    Can you wear her?

    Vibration clips.

Keep trying. Hang in there! It does get better!

  • DD1 was the same way. She was just very easily over stimulated. It was a looong first few months with her.

For us getting her into a tight hold in the wrap, swaying and loudly shushing was the best to try to help calm her. Once calm I really just had to leave her in the wrap.

  • Our Rock & Play keeps LO at an incline and it vibrates and it can be rocked. I would be insane without it.

  • This is completely up to you to try if your open to this sort of thing but... if you know a good chiropractor have him checked out. A friend of mines baby was crying to the point of colic. She took him to see a great chiro she had been seeing for years and he said his hips were sitting out of aligment. Most likely from his delivery. He did some yoga type stretches and massage on him and held him in certain way so gravity could do its thing.

He ate double that night and every night since and the crying stopped, she swears by it.
  • Could be a growth spurt?  They last a few days and the baby just wants to eat constantly.  Eventually this leads to good sleep!

Try the 5 S's - swaddle, shush, swing, suck, side. I find that a swaddle in the swing works great. Also, sshhhing works well.
