how have your LOs surprised you lately?

We haven't done one of these threads in a while. Share your LO's new tricks!

T recently started patting his diaper when I asked him where his diaper is. But yesterday, he walked over to me while patting his diaper because he had pooped and wanted to be changed!

And the other day, we were looking at our word book, and I asked him, "Where is the doggie?  Can you show mommy the doggie in the book?" and he pointed to the dog!  It was awesome.

  • We can ask LO if she has Pee in her diaper?  If she is dry she will shake her head and continue doing whatever she was doing.   If she is wet though she will walk in her room and stand by her changing table or walk into my Mom's room if we are there as that is where we change her.

  • The other day when I was getting DS ready I told him to go find his shoes and he actually went to pick them up and bought them to me.  The next day I put his shoes in a different spot and he still went and bought them to me.

SO was yelling at Ace (our dog) to stop doing something and said "Bad Dog" then DS repeats "Bad dog" now instead of calling him Ace sometimes he just says Bad dog!

  • I'm always surprised by how much Albert understands.  I read about how one of the other children on this board would climb into his car seat, so I told Albert to, and he did it!  Sat down with his butt in the seat and everything.

  • I stubbed my toe bad last weekend and fell to the floor whimpering about my toe. DS came up to me and looked at me then he started to cry. He was sad that I was hurt! I felt bad for being dramatic and hugged him and said that mommy is fine and he was over it but that shocked me! He expressed empathy! Crazy.
  • Well she's walking this month so that's a major thing.

She also knows so many body parts! The funniest is tushy because she doesn't point behind her, she squats and looks between her legs.

She finally started liking the concept of getting cozy. DH is always putting her in a nest of pillows and blankets and she just started relaxing into them instead of trying to escape every time.

This weekend she was carrying around her rectangle puzzle piece as usual (anyone else's LO have a shape preference?) and then she tucked it into her neck, held it there with her shoulder and started babbling away. It took us a minute to realize she was talking on a "phone". We are hardly ever on the phone around her but now we know MIL is! The mimicking is awesome. Like when she touched the purell pump on her diaper table (without actually pumping it) and started rubbing her hands together. That's a good habit at least, so now I'm being more careful about my bad ones!

  • She has started jumping constantly, as in two feet off the ground. She hops across the room!
  • @nenecakies J touches my lotion bottle, and rubs his hands together! Whenever i get out of the shower he wants to follow me into my room. When I grab my lotion he runs up because he wants some.

J kind of understands the concept of pretend eating. It cracks me up!
  • I think the pretend eating and drinking is so cute. B's probably gonna get a mini table and chairs for tea parties since she likes to serve us drinks!

  • Right now I think I'm just amazed with how much she understands. She'll bring her toys over when asked, or put them back when asked. She gives kisses and hugs if asked (or sometimes without being asked). She tries to pull her diaper off to show it's dirty. And she knows how to say and show her belly button, eyes, nose, and teeth! We're having fun:)

Starting to answer questions we ask daily-- go potty? Hungry? Sleepy? Shakes head yes or no.
