belly after baby

What does your belly look like after you have the baby?  how about a week after?  I just can't remember from last time.  I know everyone is different but just looking for your experience.

How long are you planning on wearing maternity clothes?  I think as soon as I feel comfortable I will try to get into my clothes even if I have to buy a size up in at lease one pair of jeans. Do you have a plan?

I can't wait to shop for normal clothes again!!!!!!

  • I feel like my belly looks deflated. It's not quite normal, but doesn't resemble any point in my pregnancy. I'm 6 days post c section. I had to have a classical incision, so it's vertical and starts just below my belly button. I have a feeling it'll be a few weeks until I'm comfortable in regular clothes, but for now I'm still rocking my old navy maternity yoga pants everyday. Best purchase I made all pregnancy!

  • I think deflated is the best way to describe it from what I remember. RCS Monday, so I'll be remembering soon enough!

  • My first time around my tummy looked deflated/pudgy right after delivery.  It was probably pretty flat a week or two out. I had some extra skin especially right under my belly button area.

This was my 3rd delivery.  My tummy looked so comical right after.  I looked like I swallowed a volleyball. It was perfectly round but lower.  I got a kick out of it. I'm 10 days pp and look about 4 months pregnant.  My abs are in pretty bad shape so I think it will take some time to go flat.

I have no interest in wearing regular clothes. I'm not even sure where they are packed away. It will be a sad day when i have to use a zipper.
  • I'm 6 days pp, and pretty surprised how far my belly has gone down. It's not flat by any means, I look about 2-3 mo pregnant.
I tried in my pre prego jeans, they still don't fit around my thighs and rear. I weighed 170 at my last dr visit, I weighed myself today and I'm at 146 lbs. ill probably just wear sweats until I can fit into my old clothes.
  • It looks like a flat, wrinkled pancake. Easy to hide but not great to look at naked.

  • 3 weeks out now and I've lost about 1/2 the weight (20 lbs) and I was in pre maternity shirts from day one but pants are a different story! I gained a lot if weight in my hips/thighs/butt so I'm in yoga pants and maternity. I don't even want to try my regular pants. My tummy just looks a bit pudgy under my belly button an not tight at all.
  • Still pregnant here so cannot comment on what my tummy looks like after baby, but I ordered a belly bandit last week!  I am not sure if it will work or if it is a joke... but I think it will help me mentally by convincing myself it works ;)

  • Having a vaginal delivery vs a c-section will make a huge difference. Your stomach stay swollen for quite some time after that surgery and it is somewhat numb which is weird. My first I was back in my pants very soon. Maybe two weeks or so. My second it took forever! I had gained too much weight and felt like such a blob. This time, I have not gained much weight due to GD so I am hoping I will only look 5-6 months pregnant afterwards :)

  • This is my third and I've been alternating between the belly bandit and a bellefit. I'm back in pre-preggo jeans, although they are a little snug. I'm happy with how my tummy looks at 10 days pp though.... Flat and not saggy! I recommend a binder!

The weirdest part is how it feels. All squishy and empty. So weird.

Is it weird that I have anxiety about this...that I'm going to feel so empty when he is outside?    Don't get me wrong, I'm totally ready to NOT be pregnant but knowing this is my one and done, I'm so worried that I'm going to have depression about not being pregnant any longer.  Weird?

I thought I would be super sad about it too. I loved being pregnant. I'm almost a week postpartum and I feel good. No sadness. I did feel a little weird when we went to the store, like
No one looks at me like the cute pregnant girl anymore lol.

My belly is pretty swollen from
C section. I was surprised today when I stepped on the sale that I'm only about 6 lbs lighter. I gained about 30 when I was pregnant. I'm not upset or worried by it, just suprised.

I goty bellefit from Amazon and my belly bandit from baby's r us.... Although that might be cheaper on amazon also. I had the bandit from my last two pregnancies, but only ever wore it at night because it is bulkier and hard to wear under clothes. This time I got the bellefit because I heard good things about it being smoother and easier to wear out and about (it is) the bellefit is a little pricy, but it's worked for me so I think it's worth it!

  • I know everyone will hate me, but I was back into my regular clothes the day I left the hospital. I only bought two maternity tanks so I was in my regular shirts all of pregnancy and just wore maxi skirts for comfort. You can't tell I was ever pregnant :( Clothes on or off.. evidence doesnt exist.

This is how I am too. The skin isn't tight yet but you can't tell I was pregnant from looking. My last pregnant weigh in was 185 (including shoes and clothes) and now I am at 157 5 days pp.

Not like I had a hot bod before, but it only looks a LITTLE saggy in my belly when I'm naked. But put on some clothes and bam you can see he sag a mile away!

I've chosen not to wear pre preg jeans yet even though I could. Just bc my skin is still a little sensitive to the c section. They might not even for tight, they were lose before pregnancy and I am down 10 from pre preg.

  • After DD1 I was in regular slightly large in the waist jeans at 2 weeks so the tummy must not have been bad ....after DD2 it was more than 2 weeks probably 3-4 weeks.

DS is 1 week and I have a pudgy little belly and 2 days ago I tried those jeans on and they are tight on the thighs and the button is no where near the hole.... my hips are way to wide still.  FWIW I started at 116#, got up to 156# and am about 138ish now wanting to get to 120# which I know will take a few months  ---- I do not feel good with a pudgy belly so will wear my now falling down maternity jeans until I fit into mine which will hopefully be soon.

  • Day 14 here, and it looks like a fairly normal flabby stomach (though the linea negra is still there, and my belly button is sad and stretched out still).  Last week it was mostly just big and squishy; it made a nice pillow for the baby to lie on while nursing!

Actually, I feel "squishy" all over, not just my belly.  It makes me realize just how high my blood pressure probably was, for me.  I've gone from feeling over-inflated to feeling like a big mound of squishy bread dough.  (Well, except for my boobs, when it's time to feed her.)

  • I was back into my regular clothes almost immediately.  But I lost quite a bit at the beginning and only gained 10# over my Pre-Preg weight, so that could explain it.

At 2 1/2 weeks PP, my tummy is quite squishy and I actually had to laugh when I took my first bath because my belly was actually floating! LOL  I can tell that things are slowly moving back into place, but I think it will be a while yet before all the squish goes away.

  • Somewhat related: Sneezing- I feel like my guts are going to fall out of my butt/vagina.

I guess it's better than snissing... but what an awkward feeling!

  • I didn't gain very much weight so I'm back in my pre pregnancy clothes but I have a loose, squishy tummy and some yucky stretch marks.=(
  • I'm still wearing my yoga pants 24/7 and I'm a week PP. I'm down over half of the weight I gained though- sad I still can't fit my wedding band on. My stomach is squishy but getting better daily.
  • I was soft and doughy in my belly and kind of puffy everywhere else for a short time. The tummy eventually went down, but never quite to the same shape it was pre pregnancy. All the extra skin and stretch marks never went away either. It took years to get back to pre preg size, so I had to buy all new clothes a month or 2 post partum. Mostly pants but a lot of shirts couldn't contain the tummy fluff. I also went from 116 pre, to 198 at the end and was 143 after delivery. The extreme weight changes were very hard on my body.

This time I think things will be a bit different. I'm about 10 over pre weight and am smaller (baby, belly) this time in general. I lost a lot of weight over this pregnancy because of how long I vomited for as well.

I wanted to cry and punch my friend after I delivered DS. She was obviously shocked when she saw my stomach the first time. The doozy was when she brought her mom over and had me show her. "It looks like a dead jellyfish" isn't something a newly post partum mom needs to hear. Even if it is true! I felt like a circus freak.
