My doctor said CD 1 should be counted when my NEXT period comes (not the m/c, but when my actual natural cycle runs its course post-m/c.) So I'm just taking a charting break until then.
because I wanted to document the entire m/c for my own personal information I started charting it from the first sign of red blood. My bleeding started with red blood and then was spotting for several days before there was more real bleeding. I didn't pass the last clot until CD17, so I consider that to be when the m/c was over (and when many might start counting from a D&C). I think that when you count CD1 is up to you. I just charted all of it so that I would see how my body handled the natural m/c if it ever came up again.?
I counted the first day of heavy bleeding with my natural m/c, but I don't think it makes a big difference. Most bodies don't have a completely "normal" cycle right after a m/c - so you can expect your body to be a little out of sync. My AF retunred 41 days after my natural m/c, which was a long cycle for me. Hope this helps!
