Any plus size mommas?

I'm actually afraid to ask this, but I want to know I'm not alone. I'm not comfortable with my body, and this pregnancy I'm vowing to eat SO much healthier, and not gain 60lbs like I did with DD. That weight is hard to get off. Plus when this LO is born, we will be EBF and I vow not to rely on the calories baby sucks out of me. So I'm hoping to continue my healthy lifestyle after LO is born.

Re: Any plus size mommas?

  • I am. Just found out we are expecting #3 yesterday and it was a big surprise. I was actually in the middle of taking a TTC break to lose weight. In the past two months I lost 30 lbs and had plans to lose another 20 lbs before starting to TTC again. I'm a little bummed that I didn't hit my goal first but still very happy to be pregnant. I am a size 20/22. I plan to stay very active this pregnancy (I have a Y membership) and continue the good eating habits I have been implementing the past 2 months. The goal is to gain as little as possible.
Rachel, mama to Ava (6), Olivia (4), Nora (2), and baby#4 on the way.

  • Hi ladies I am usually just a lurker lol but I'm so glad you posted this! I gained 70 lbs with DS. A lot was fluid but I didn't eat that great either. I lost 40 and had hoped to loose more but am so happy to be pregnant:) This time id like to stay healthier. I didn't have gb last time but I think they'll have me do the gb diet this time. I would love any ideas you ladies have on healthy eating habits and meals. Also how you will stay active in the winter months? I don't have a gym membership and really don't have the time with my son who is almost a year. Any help would be great! Thanks
  • Pregnant with first. I am Obese and I would like to lose during my pregnancy. I have no reason to gain. Found out yesterday! :)

though lots of cramping like a period is coming but I clearly got 4 positive tests.
  • I'm plus sized and very nervous about gaining a lot of weight. I've been eating better for a couple months and was actually going to start trying the couch to 5k training the week I found out I was pregnant. My goal is to be as healthy as possible during this pregnancy. I don't want to put myself or the baby more at risk.

  • I'm obese.. gee it sucks to say that out loud! I hope to not gain during pregnancy as my dr said that would be safe considering my size. I wear 18-20 size pants. I was told on Thursday I have sch so now I'm supposed to take it easy so I guess no exercise for this girl! :( I do enjoy taking walks but now I'm terrified anything I do will make the placenta detach

Could you maybe do low impact yoga? I bought a pregnancy yoga DVD a couple pregnancies ago, and am excited to actually be able to use it!

  • I am also an 18-20.  With my DD I gained about 45 pounds.  I hope not to gain half of that this time, but it is so difficult.  I also have hashimoto's hypothyroidism.  I've been trying to exercise regulalry, but the shortness of breath is already getting me :(.

  • Glad to know I'm not alone! I am 16-20 (depending on tops or bottoms) and the last thing I need in this life is for my boobs to get any bigger! Haha (they alone are responsible for anything size 20). I've spent 2013 losing, so I will continue what I have been doing, though the exhaustion has made keeping up with my walking hard. We will see what happens!
  • I am! I gained 52lbs with DD after losing 100! I was so mad at myself. I lost most of it while breast feeding, but my problem was that when I stopped BF'ing, I kept eating extra calories. So I gained the baby weight back and then some. I worked really hard and lost 30lbs. I have lost 4 more since becoming pregnant this time, which is new to me because with DD I was rarely sick. I am determined to be healthier this time around, but this baby hates nearly everything that I eat except Mexican food lol. I'm going to do my best and try not to kick myself if I slip. Have any other ladies on baby #2 or more noticed their belly already changing? Even with my belly fat, I think it's just bloating but Lord I feel like I look pregnant at 5 weeks! Try not to be too hard on yourself. A pregnant woman is beautiful, no matter her size! ❤️
  • I do. It's totally there. NOT noticeable by others by any means. But I can tell. I'm self conscious about it.

  • this is my first and I look pregnant my thought is from bloating and others won't notice but I have
  • I am size 22 pre pregnancy and was luck to only gain 20 with my first. I unfortunately got gestational diabetes in the last 5 weeks on my first pregnancy. I am definitely trying to excersize and eat better this time to hopefully not get it again even though I know I have no control over it... Just trying to stay positive!! Where do all you other lovely ladies get your maternity clothes?? I can't find any!!
  • @cherisestevens I got a bunvh of mine last time at kohls and motherhood. And some consignment shops I'm hoping a lot of mine still fit!
  • @cherisestevens Old Navy. Since we are having summer babies, a lot of their summer maternity stuff is on super clearance right now!
  • Im a size 14 now 5ft9 i look bloated not pregnant :( i hate shopping for bigger clothes its so depressing..
imageAll the food in the world right now...
  • I am a size 18ish/2X but I have already gone up two cup sizes and feel huge! This is my first pregnancy so no previous baby weight.

  • With my first i started at a size 16 and I'm 5'7. Gained 55 lbs with him but lost 60 in 6 weeks thanks in part to the joy of breast feeding. I was so swollen early on with my first and there was no b/ p issue. My husband and I both have to watch what we eat and my weight has been a constant struggle since I was a pre teen. We generally eat healthy and no fast food!!
Now pregnant with #2 and starting weight is greater then what I would like it to be. This time I am more aware of all the changes that come with pregnancy so I'm honestly going to try and do better. WILLPOWER!! Good luck ladies!

  • I'm a size 14, but that's in Lane Bryant size so I think I'm really a 16.  This is my first pregnancy so I don't have anything to compare it to.  I'm at 6 weeks and I think I gained 2 pounds.  I would also like to avoid gaining a lot of weight but I'm SO tired, I haven't been able to get any activity in.  Hoping I'll have more energy in a few weeks.  My sister gained a lot of weight with her second child just from eating too much, then she had high blood sugar and was put on a restricted diet by her doctor.  I am just craving carbs/starches more than anything.  Good luck to you all!
  • I'm overweight & really nervous about gaining weight. I know that as long as I don't eat for 6 and exercise regularly I'll be ok but it still concerns me. My mom never lost her baby weight. I'll probably join crossfit post baby like one of my friends did. She lost 40 lbs over like 6 months.

  • Overweight over here, too! :( Size 16. I am planning to try to stay active (once I get some energy back - I've been so exhausted the past few days) and eat as healthfully as I can. I really don't want to gain any unnecessary weight. But I just want to have a healthy baby and pregnancy, of course!  I'm  still a little worried about the effects, if any, the extra weight may have on us.

And to be honest, I'm (more than) a little disappointed I won't have that cute little bump showing and be able to take those sweet week-by-week pictures!  Well, not until way farther in at least. :(

  • I'm overweight. I still did week by week pics with ds, even though I didn't look super pregnant until pretty far into my pregnancy. Don't let your weigh hold you back!

I gained less than 20 lbs with ds and I'm hoping to do the same this time, but the way my cravings have been I'll probably gain double. I already loon pregnant/bloated now, but people probably just think I'm gaining more weight. :)

  • size 16/18. doing pics week by week but just looking like chub overflowing. lol. might have to break down and get some maternity pants early with the bloat going on. im trying to eat healthy options but nothing sounds good anymore and I certainly am not drinking enough liquids.. thinking about joining a gym for lite exercising now that I don't want to walk outside in the cold. the one by us has a warm pool that's sooo nice.

  • I'm a plus size mamma too and I have wide hips. I just managed to fit into my pre-DS jeans comfortably, they fit, but there was a muffin top until last month. I bought two pair of maternity jeans with DS but they never for right so now I'm already looking for jeans. I need plus size tall maternity jeans which are really hard to find.
