Those doing giving tree with DC....

I know a few girls on here said they are going to a tradition of having their child pick a child's name off a giving tree.  My question is....how will you explain this to your child?  I'm guessing your child will believe in Santa...what if they ask why Santa isn't coming to the kid who's name they picked?  I probably worded that confusingly...but I was just curious.

    I grew up having some gifts from Santa (unwrapped) and some from parents (wrapped). This helped when I saw my parents buying gifts for everyone else and they didn't have to explain why they didn't buy anything for me too!

    So I'd probably say that Santa does visit everyone, but sometimes parents don't have as much as we do and they can't afford to buy things for their children.

    Ok, that makes sense!  I grew up with just gifts from Santa.  I don't remembering wondering why my parent's never got me anything.  It's so funny how I overthink these kinds of things now that I have my own child!
