Pregnant after IF

Well I guess I'm not graduating just yet (SCH)

Our ultrasound with the RE today showed two big, happy little babies with heartbeats thundering away, but it also revealed a decent size SCH. It's weird because I haven't had excessive cramping and I'm not bleeding. It didn't appear to be there during last week's ultrasound either.

I am on modified bed rest (and full pelvic rest) at this point and the only "activity" I'm allowed to do is to work, since I sit on my butt all day. But lifting, carrying things, walking more than just to/from the bathroom are all no-no's.

I freaked out a bit earlier but am doing better with the news now. I'm parked on the couch about to watch a bootlegged copy of Thor. My follow up appt with my RE is next Monday, but he still wants me to go ahead and see the obgyn tomorrow.

I know we have some other SCH girls here, how are you guys doing?

Hey katekat, I know how scary it is to find those. My doctor found three and put me on bed rest for 2 weeks until they shrunk. She told me if I saw blood it wouldn't be a lot because the two bigger ones were behind where the baby implanted. One was closer to the cervix and actually did drain out around 8 weeks. My ob saw them at 10 weeks, but at my 14 week appointment they were all completely gone. It's very weird because you don't feel anything but it seems so scary. Try not to worry. I hear its common, but IFers know about them because we get monitored more. They will resolve on their own. Good luck! Edit: would --> wouldn't

It really does come out of the blue and the fact that you can't see or feel it is totally nerve wracking. If I told you I didn't worry until they were gone, I'd be lying. MH really picked up the slack, especially with DD because I couldn't pick her up, hold her, bathe her, etc. The best advice I have is to really take it easy until your dr sees it getting smaller. Rest as much as you can and don't do any housework. During my first week of bed rest, I stupidly emptied the dish washer twice. It didn't seem like a lot of work, and I was tired of being so helpless. DH was so mad at me and then the bleeds got bigger!! I learned my lesson really fast. Don't stress. Your babies will be fine! Edit: spelling. Damn contractions on my iPad are being dumb.

  • i had one at 11 weeks and by 16 weeks was gone.  brown spotting a week before huge bleed that sent me to ER, then brown spotting for 2 weeks after.  now that you know one is there, just rest as much as possible, and call dr at sign of spotting/bleeding.  hang in there!

  • Thank you guys for the kind words!

@MJC1116 - You have a good hubby for taking such good care of you and DD while you had your SCH scares! I totally just told DH "sorry I can't do the dishes anymore!". He's like "no shit you can't, just sit down and tell me what I can do to help!" lol. He's already been babying me even without the SCH, I have a feeling it's just going to be getting crazy now with it! :)

  • It's def scary, especially when you actually see the blood :-(  But don't worry, 99% of the time they clear up on their own and everything is totally fine.  I had mine at 5w, and last week at my 7w u/s the RE couldn't see it anymore.  She said that doesn't necessarily mean it's not there, but they don't see it, so that's a good sign.  I didn't have any cramping with mine, either, until after I had the u/s, and I think the u/s just irritated it, which caused the cramping since it only lasted a few hours.  But other than that the only cramping I've had is very obvious uterus expansion.  You and babies will be just fine, hang in there!! :-)

  • @FutureMrsW9 thanks girl! I was going to msg you about yours to see how it's doing. I'm glad to hear it's smaller! I have had cramping now but am thinking it's just irritation like you said. But boo, this sucks!

  • It def sucks, and let's be honest, it's a total mind-f*ck.  Have you bled at all from it?  I think that's what was hardest for me - seeing that blood was literally the worst moment of my entire life since at that point I had no idea what an SCH even was or had even heard of such a thing.  I'm still checking, and will probably continue to check for weeks to come, my panties and the TP every single time I'm in the bathroom - sometimes I even take a special trip because I think I feel something.  It's unnerving.  HOWEVER, aside from the mental mess it may make you, it's so common - the RE who was there the day I had mine said they see it quite frequently - and the majority of the time they resolve on their own and don't affect baby whatsoever.  I know you said yours is a good size - did they actually tell you how big it is?  frustration.com!
