NBR thoughts and prayers

Last Saturday my 23 year old sister was walking through a parking lot and a car drove right into her and pinned her between two cars, and then took off.

She is in the hospital and has to decide whether to move forward with a below the knee amputation or attempt to save the leg, which would take years, involving surgeries on other parts of her body to collect muscle, and likely still end up with a lame leg and a brace. It's an impossible decision no one should have to make. If she tries to save the leg and ends up having to amputate, it would be above the knee and even more of a life changer .

My sister loved to bike and swim and lives a very full life. I try and I try to think what I can do to help and there's not much I can do but be there for her....but if you ladies can spare a thought and a prayer for her, please send her the strength and clarity to move forward and stay positive. Thanks.

oh my WORD... how horrifying! my heart breaks for her. i can't even imagine being in that position and having a piece of your body taken away from you by someone's awful driving error.

did they apprehend the person who did it, or was it a hit and run?

It was a hit and run. It happened around 11 at night. I can't help but wonder if it was a drunk driver. She said they turned on their headlights and drove right into her, then backed up and took off. It is so painful to even think about someone doing something so awful. The police have no leads.

I am so sorry, it is a terribly difficult decision to have to make. Is there a counselor at the hospital that could help her weigh her options?

I wish her all the best in the long road to recovery and I really, really hope the catch the fucker who ran her over and throw the book at him/her.

Goodness! Prayers to your fam, her and you too! I hope someone saw/they have a video, or something of the jerk that did this. Gracious. T&P and hugs.

And, I would amputate now... personal opinion I have a above the knee amputee friend and she has a very active life, shes more active than a lot of two-full-leg-having-other-friends! It sucked at first, but she made it work and she's awesomer for it!

Thanks ladies. I also think the early amputation is the best route, but I know she needs to come to the decision on her own and be confident in it.

What a heartbreaking situation. I will certainly send thoughts and payers her (and your) way. I hope she can come to the best decision for her and I wish her an easy recovery. As to the driver, karma can't catch you fast enough.

I cannot imagine having to face that decision. I pray for peace with whatever decision she makes, and for a full recovery either way. Prayers for you as well.
