I had to chuckle tonight. I didn't give DS any cereals as solids. When I wasn't doing solids, all I heard from MIL is how if I did start giving him cereal or food, he'd start sleeping better. Just wait and see! And wouldn't you know, he didn't. Starting solids didn't make a lick of difference on how much he slept at night. So I scoffed a little when she told me tonight that, "Wait until he starts eating food food. Then he'll start sleeping through the night. You'll see." I told her he was eating "food food" (as opposed to what, fake plastic fruit?). She said, "Yeah, but you puree everything. I mean real food." Mmmkay.
1. Pureed food is still real food. Just mushed up real food. I don't add water, so none of it gets washed out. In fact, I usually make it with more "food food," like applesauce.
2. I told her DS has been eating "real food." He gets chicken, meatballs, cheese, hummus, toast, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs..... And his sleep is the same. So of course, I was told to wait until he's "really eating it all the time, and you switch to milk." WTH would milk do? Formula is more filling than milk. And he's currently at 3 meals a day. How much more often is he expected to eat?
Why do some people insist that stuffing a baby full of food is a sleep solution? I don't know about anyone else, but when I overeat, I feel like crap and it can make me sleep poorly, if anything.
