1) Get a white noise machine app and put my phone in the carseat with my baby
2) Baby's bedtime of 6:30PM
3) Use a shopping cart cover
Before DS was born, I saw mothers doing those things and thought they were stupid and that when I was a mom I'd never go to those ridiculous lengths. Well, I've them all now. Unapologetically.
What do you do now that you thought you'd never do?

Re: Things I Thought I'd Never Do
Let her sleep in bed with me at all, but most nights she ends up in our bed at some point or another, even if it's just for a little bit in the morning.
Let DD watch any TV. So far it's just been old Sesame Street episodes and Fraggle Rock and I make it interactive by singin along and such (I know pretty much all the Fraggle Rock songs. Shut up.) so I don't feel like its as bad as just sticking her in front if the tv while I do my own thing. ;-)
I don't get the 6:30 bedtime as a "thing I'd never do...." Most of the studies I've read recommend a 6-7pm bedtime. I've always side-eyed moms who do an 8+pm bedtime.
My guys have an early bedtime and everyone seems to think i'm crazy. I've literally tried everything from 5:30-9:00 and they definitely do best with a 6:30/7 bedtime. I'm just tired of justifying this to everyone (not on this board)!
Things I thought I would never do:
1. Drive a mini van.
2. Buy a swing, exersaucer, Johnny jumper, or other stationary activity center.
3. Have to say "Don't chew on the trash can!"
I love my mom car! I own all the afore mentioned things, not just one, and the third SHOULD be self explanatorily....
2. Buy into some of the "it" things that everyone says you have to have, that you don't really need. I paid $18 for the Sophie the Giraffe because it was all the rage. Then I opened it and saw how small it was! He likes it, but not anymore than any of the other 10 million things he puts into his mouth. He's just as happy with a spatula from the Dollar Tree. Lesson learned.
I NEVER thought I would bed share. I was so against it before I had LO ( and she turned out to be a shitty sleeper). I will probably do it for the next one too.
Side eye away, but my dd goes down between 9pm and 10pm right now. She sleeps until 8 or 9 and naps great. She is a very content baby. The last thing I read had bedtimes for her age listed as 8-10pm. I stay home and my dh does not get in from work until after 7 most nights so this schedule works well for us for now. If dd was fussy or having issues obviously we would reevaluate.
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
I let DD eat stuff off of the floor at home too. Before she was here I never considered that. She eats leaves and dirt and grass/clover too. I'll check for dogs droppings before we choose a place in the park to hang out. I just don't sweat the stuff I can't see. I used to try to stop her but I had to choose between not caring or exploding with stress!
I thought that I would be sitting my baby in front of the TV all the time. I love movies! Once she got here I changed my mind.
I'm sure there's others but I am tired and no feeling very creative :-S
And, DC, I'm definitely the same with DH's youngest brother. He has started to accept that that's just the way it is (with schedules and DH not being able to just regularly take off for a day to go to an amusement park with him or go mountain climbing and leave me home with the kids), but I cannot wait until he has his own kids and actually gets it.
1. I also thought I would EBF, maybe even extended. Nope.
2. I thought I wouldn't let kids get in the way of DH and I going out semi-regularly. Sigh. DD1 had such awful stranger anxiety that she actually when through a (thankfully brief) phase where she would scream bloody murder if BOTH of us weren't in the room with her. Any time either of us had to go to the bathroom, she flipped out. Try getting a babysitter with that kind of kid.
3. I thought I wouldn't sleep train.

1) I never thought I would be so laid back as a mother
2) Never thought I would be the one in bed so early from exhaustion
3) Never thought I could kiss one little person so much
* on another note for the germ people, I work for Lysol and have seen all the mass amounts of studies on different germy situations. If you use a cart cover, you are only doing your baby good if once you take him out of cart you put the seat cover in a plastic bag in car and wash it after EVERY use. Also on the food on the floor people (myself included) don't fret babies and adults need some bad germs in order for you stay healthy anyhow lol
Then I became a mom. I traded my Saturn Ion in on an SUV which my parents later claimed and left me car-less. DH and I started looking for cars and what was I looking at? Outbacks and Mini Vans.
First round of Clomid in May 2012= BFP #1, DD born January 2013
BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
I also never thought I would let my LO play with the dogs. I keep him away from the cars most always, but the dogs just love him. And they're just such gentle and tolerant dogs . He adores them!
