Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Bringing LO to visit at work

DD is almost 3 weeks. I work in a nursing home, and my co-workers are starting to ask when I'm going to bring DD in to visit. They invited me to come next week since they are doing a baby shower for one of my other co-workers. I'm just so paranoid about exposing her to germs since there are so many things spread at nursing homes! I'm not sure if/when to bring her in, especially now that flu season is starting. If I brought her in I could potentially wear her in one of my carriers so people can't hold her. WWYD?

I work in an elementary school (lots of germs!) and I waited until she was about 6 weeks old. I told people ahead of time that I wasn't going to pass her around and everyone respected that. I thought if putting her in the moby wrap but I realized that if I did that then the only exposed part would be her head tempting everyone to touch it! Do I left her in the car seat cause then if people HAVE to touch its her feet that are easiest to reach, not her face!

  • I work in an office and am waiting until my LO is 2 months old to bring him in.  All my co-workers were happy to know I was planning to bring him in the future and I am not going to be as worried about people touching him when he is a little older.

  • My LO is 8 weeks old and I tried to bring him in at 6 weeks, but he melted down and stayed with daddy in the parking lot while I picked something up. Now I am glad I didn't do it - one of my coworkers had the flu.

If you are concerned, I would err on the side of caution. Your LO will still be adorable after flu season!
  • I took mine at 10 weeks and kept him in the moby. I work in an Er so most people are aware of germs and were respectful. Only one person touched his head. I'm sure she won't try that again after my reaction. ;)
  • Don't bring her if you don't feel comfortable. I told my work that I will bring my babies for a visit after their two month vaccinations and everyone understood.
