Does your LO still use a pacifier?

My LO does...when going down for a nap or bedtime. The pacifier does not leave the cirb...He does not need it to fall asleep but I am just so used to giving it to him. The moment it falls out it doesn't wake him or anything. I just haven't seen the need to stop. but he is almost 2 so I wondering if I could just stop cold turkey with it...what do you guys do?

  • Lucia still has it for bed, nap and in the car.  I'm trying to work up the energy to tackle the car first.  I don't mind that she has it in bed, so I'm not in a hurry to stop that.

  • Yes for nap, bedtime, and occasionally the car. She will not fall asleep without it. I plan on taking it away when she's 2.

  • We are like others-he has it only during nap and bed time. It will fall out and be out most of the night, but he does still need it to help stay asleep.  Last week he threw them all out of his crib and he woke up 30 minutes into his nap and cried until I gave it back-that reaffirmed to me that he needed it to help sleep. I haven't decided when we are going to take it-we will probably start with naps when he is 2.

  • Yes, he has it. We try to limit it to bedtimes & car rides, but he is AWFUL in the evening without it. So he ends up walking around with it often. It's really the only way to get through the hours from the end of nap until bedtime :/

  • Ian still gets a pacifier whenever he wants it.  Most of the time it's just for naps, bedtime, and in the car.  However, if he's fussy and wants it, I give it to him.  I'm not ready to fight that battle yet!

This is what we do. I try to keep it away from her if it's not a sleep time or often in the car but if she sees it and asks, grabs it, etc I don't make too big of a fuss over it. I do try to limit it's use for sure. I would not say she walks around with it all day by any means. That would bug me.

  • We weaned my son last week.  I thought it would alot harder but he was ready.   So glad to be done with that stage.  If we didn't have a paci when he asked we would get crazy meltdowns.
