LOs breath has been this way since day one. He is exclusively breast fed. I describe it as sweet, but it's a very different smell, something I have never smelled before. Anyone else notice this!!?
Our bf babies are drinking sugary sweet milk all day long. Sweet breath is a wonderful side effect. Much better than the spoiled milk smell after a spit up.

The 2 things that come to mind is the sweet smell of diabetes or something like thrush, but seeing as he was born with it. Those aren't likely. It's odd that you've never smelled it before with all the babies that you have worked with.
I have a theory that you notice it now because it's your kid- kind of like how you know your child's cry in a room full of babies. It's probably some evolutionary thing.
I loved DD's breath when she was EBF (as crazy as that sounds) and remember being disappointed when she had to start formula because that smell went away. DS has the same breath now, but he also spits up so much that I notice the sour milk smell on his clothes/burp cloths more often!
