I was wondering if you ladies ever give a schedule/routine to try to stick to to your daycare provider? My daughter has kind of been thrown off with daylight savings time I believe as she was doing well before at daycare, but the last week or so she hasn't been napping as well as daycare as before. She did well here at home this weekend. So I wrote some things down as far as times of naps and how long I'd like her to sleep in order for her to make it through the day without getting cranky/fussy/crying by the time late afternoon and evening comes. I didn't want to come across as trying to tell her what to do, but I feel if my daughter sticks to this setup that she is able to make it through the day without becoming overtired. I am just wanting to give her my thoughts and what we do at home so we are both on the same page, but I don't want to come across in another way. This is an in home daycare provider. Do you ladies ever give your daycare provider a run down of your son/daughters schedule/routine at home so she can know where things fall or do you let them do what they want to do on their watch?
Re: Routine for daycare?
How old is your LO and how long has she been with your DCP? Does your DCP provide a daily activity sheet?
There is nothing wrong with asking your DCP to follow a schedule, after all you are the client. It's all about the approach.
I do wonder about telling the DCP how long your LO should sleep. Is there a reason to think she's waking her up mid-nap? There's only so much control she has over your LO's sleep schedule.
At daycare he has been getting one nap/day on a cot, same time, quiet area for about 2.5 months and is doing really well with that. But, again, at home on the weekends he really needs two if we're just hanging out at home. If we're out and about and keeping busy he can do one.
Saturday we were out and about and he was fine getting up at 7am, napping 9-11 and then going to bed at 7:30. On Sunday he got up at 7:30, napped from 9:30-11:45 and DH didn't put him down later thinking he'd be fine (they were home all day). Nope. He got an early bedtime.
I say feel free to try to get her napping by agreeing on a schedule. Using an in-home daycare provider should make it easier. But if it doesn't work out, then understand that it's normal.
