First time being scared

So my parents live with us and they have a dog that is half chihuaha, half jack russell. It is an extremely yappy dog and barks at everything. I love dogs but find it hard to connect with this one due to her lack of obedience/listening skills etc. She clearly wasn't trained properly. Anyways, her barking has started to become an issue with DS napping. I find DS a lot more aware of sounds lately and the dog has now woken him up a few times. Tonight when SO got home from work the dog barked and Brody made a pouting face and burst into tears. It was the first time something scared him and it broke my heart! No point to this post really just wanted to vent.

  • This happened with Evie yesterday with the vacuum. She usually loves it, in fact, it sometimes puts her to sleep when I vacuum with her in the Moby. But yesterday I had her hanging out in her crib while I put laundry away. She was happy and content so I decided to vacuum her room also. The minute I put it on she "jumped" and started screaming. So sad!

  • One time Audrey was waking up in the middle of the night but not fully awake yet. My hubby went to use the bathroom and dropped the lid down when he finished and it startled her awake and she started screaming. Like her I was half asleep until then, you better believe I jumped my butt out of bed and picked her up as quickly as I could!
  • I was imitating what my LO sounds like when he is grunting to DH and it scared my LO! I wasn't really loud or anything but he started open mouth silent crying! I felt so bad. But then again it was also kind of funny that I was imitating his own sounds and that is what he was startled by. Poor little goofy guy.

  • We got a new swing that has a mobile with a mirror. She was fast asleep. She lost it though when she woke up to her own reflection. She had both arms glued to the seat. There was so much fear in her eyes! She was so scared! I felt awful. Almost as bad as when she got her shots!
  • Funny my parents have a chihuahua Jack Russell mix as well. He doesn't like strangers at all, but I thought a baby would be different. Nope. He barks and growls at him and my parents end up having to lock him in a bedroom. Not sure how this is going to work because my mom will be watching him when I go back to work.

  • A couple of weeks ago. I had my little girl sitting in her bouncer in the kitchen. My 3 year old nephew and my 10 year old stepson were running around the house playing, yelling and being insanely loud. LO slept through 45 minutes of that while I fixed dinner. Then I sat at the kitchen table and opened a bag of chips. Baby jumped a mile and burst into tears. Go figure lol
  • I've scared the living daylights out of DS a few times coughing! He sounds so pitiful with his scared cry! =(

My parents dog hates strangers too and nips at kids which made me very nervous with the baby coming. Thankfully she is protective of brody... not sure how long that will last once he starts crawling/walking etc...

  • Lucas is really into monsters right now because of Monsters Inc. He will frequently run up to Alexis and roar at her. It's hilarious.

I'm having troubles with my allergies and there has been many times where DD was either asleep or just content and zoning out and one of my sneezes scared the hell out of her. You're right, it's a little heart breaking! I tried to hold my sneeze in to make it quieter but the last time I did that I ended up pissing my pants... lol

Same thing with the sneezes for me today. She was eating and I sneezed. She made the pouty face and this pitiful sound like right before she starts to cry but no full blown crying.
