The things people think to say...

I was at the customer service desk at the store and a woman looks at me and says, "Your baby's face looks full grown." Um. Yeah. She then starts cooing at him saying, "Yes! Are you full grown? Are you a full grown boy?!?" I'm not offended, just sort of bewildered. I've never thought he had an overly mature looking face. But I guess we should let him try to buy a bottle of whiskey and see if he gets carded. ;)

  • Yeah, some people go a little nuts when they see a baby...

  • Haha what does that even mean? Full-grown? I've never heard that before in regards to a baby.

    DH's Nana says really weird things sometimes about DD (and other babies). We just laugh about it later.

  • Is it wrong that I kind of get what that lady was saying? I still see my son as a little baby face but I'll see my friends son whose just 6 months older and think "ah he's a real boy!!" (like from Peter Pan, lol) bc his face looks so grown up to me.

    Although I would never actually say these things out loud 8-}

  • So I think she was basically saying he doesn't have alien newborn face?! :P

  • This made me lol! I guess I kind of understand because our friends have a baby that looks kind of like a grown man (as much as a baby can, haha). He has a very serious demeanor and the best head of hair I've ever seen on anyone. That's a really weird comment to make to a stranger though, and an odd way of putting it too.

  • Bahaha!

    I had a lady stop us in the store the other day and ask how old DS was and comment on his hair (he has crazy long hair). He smiled at her a she saw his two bottom teeth. She then said "oh I see those teeth! Soon you'll be eating pizza!" ?? What!? How weird and random is that!? Ha.

    I think that's one of those things where you realize what people mean when you see it. I was riding the bus once a few years ago and a mom got on with her baby (maybe 8ish months old??) in a stroller, and no joke, it looked like an adult face. It was very bizarre and I kept stealing glances out of the corner of my eye. I did not say anything because that is definitely inappropriate, but I know what this lady might have meant. Although, Dublinmama, I do not think that your DS looks like an adult!! :)

  • @expatmama lol to the donuts!

    A couple of weeks ago we took DS out to eat with us and they gave us a kids meal and crayons. I'm thinking to myself, "Lady, you can't give my kid crayons - he'll chew on them!"

  • @drea926 we went to get ice cream when DS was literally like, 7 weeks old. The server asked if we would like to have a kiddie cone for him?! No sir, my newborn can't have a vanilla ice cream cone!!
