Tylenol for a cold?

Is it safe to give a 14 month old Tylenol for a cold?  How is it supposed to help?  I thought it was dangerous to give it when someone has a cold, but maybe I'm thinking of a different medicine.  Thanks.

    It's not dangerous but it's not helpful either for a cold.  It decreases pain and fever but won't help for other cold symptoms.

    Yes, it won't do anything for the virus but it is safe to help with the stuffy nose, headache, pain, fever, etc that comes from a cold. I only use the baby kind so that I don't give LO too high of a dose.

    Ditto what pp said. And I think you are thinking about aspirin. That's the one you shouldn't give to a child with fever.

    If I have a cold, I usually have a sore throat and give tylenol to myself. Seems to make sense to do that for a baby if they have a cold. :)
