Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Happy Spitter

LO has Ben diagnosed as a happy spitter by a GI specialist. She just turned 6mo on Monday. I'm wondering if anyone of anyone has a spitty baby and if they are using Enfamil AR. Is there a generic for this? Target, walmart? TIA!

Re: Happy Spitter

  • I agree w/ pp. If baby is a happy spitter than it's more of a laundry issue. I EBF and DS spits up a lot. But he is never unhappy. I don't think it's the formula. I think it's because he's a baby & their little Timmy's sometimes can't keep it all down. As they get older it does get better. DS is 4 months and boy I've noticed a huge difference! Good luck!

  • my baby is 3 1/2 months and a happy spitter. He has been on medication and all.  I stopped the meds and have tried all types of formula.  the rice and thicker formulas make it worse for him.  we have recently switched to an organic formula in the sensitive and it seems to be better for him. still doing laundry and always have a bib but less spit ups.
  • We too have a happy spitter. She seriously smiles through it! And sometimes laughs. Our strategy? The plastic bibs with the pockets! The pockets catch the spit up and then you can just wipe out the pocket. Laundry time has been reduced.

But warning - they learn pretty quickly how to dump out said pocket - and while my LO thinks it is hysterical, I am not yet finding it to be very funny.

  • We have been using he Target version of the Enfamil AR since Saturday. It has drastically reduced the amount of spit up. Good thing it's on sale is week too since the container doesn't come in the larger size.
