We're still nursing a lot, so I have no imminent plans to. My gut instinct if we were primarily FF would be to do it once he was eating enough solids that milk no longer seemed to be his primary sustenance. That's not based on any research, though, just what makes sense to me.
I started giving DD a sippy of WCM with her afternoon snack at 11months. It's been about 3 weeks and she still won't drink any. I also cook her oatmeal in WCM for breakfast.

My pedi recommended doing a mix of milk and formula to transition and he told us anytime near age one is fine. I plan to wait until about 11.5 months to start transitioning.
I don't think I will until 18m. DS had horrible issues with straight milk. He was on soy until 3 years, now he's fine unless he has a lot of it. He was always fine with yogurt and cheeses, but milk was bad. I plan to just keep nursing for her milk, maybe pump some for her to drink out of a cup at lunch and dinner. she will take bm fine from a sippy, but not a straw.
Planning to wait until his 1 year check up. He's had a couple spoon fulls here and there when my husband fed him some of the cereal he was eating. However my friend has an 11 month old and she stopped formula on him at 9-10 months and went straight to WCM. I'm not for that personally but every mom knows their baby best and what's best for them.
I'm waiting til after DD's 12 month appointment so I can ask her pedi some questions. I'm actually going to miss nursing her! I love that special bonding time. Yet at the same time I feel like she'll be ready
i've seen on tv and such they make toddler formula, is that something anyone has any info on?
does milk take place of formula after they turn one, like does it have the same nutritions that BM or formula?
Toddler formula is silly. It's mostly meant fortoddlers with special dietary needs . Normal children don't need any of the extra crap in it past 1 year and milk replaces it. Milk is good source of vitamins and healthy fats.
The idea is that by 1 or so, the child is eating enough regular food to take the place of what formula gave (that is, a primary nutrition source). Milk has its own great stuff, but it doesn't give everything the formula did. I will supplement with vitamin drops for another year (into the before-bed milk). This is what I did with DD, who now does Flintstones chewables.
