    As 2Mamaz mentioned, we are doing partner IVF. We'll use my eggs and transfer into @Manada, if all goes according to plan. On Thursday, M passed her saline sonogram with flying colors (uterus looks good and clear). She's currently in the middle of 2 weeks on the BCP. After the 2 weeks are up, she will wait to get a period and then go in on day 2 of her cycle to start estrace. She expects this to be around Nov. 17.

    I have been on BCPs since my lap in June to help control my endo. I will take my last BCP on Nov. 20 and then wait to get my period. I will go in on day 2 to start my stims. If all goes according to plan (which we all know it rarely does), we expect to do an ER some time during the first week of December and an ET five days later.

    I'm going to acupuncture twice a week (just started last Weds) and eating high protein, relatively low carb, and lots of healthy fat to try to prepare my eggs for the big game. Also my acupuncturist wants me to significantly cut dairy, so I'm trying to do that, too.

    QOTW:
    I'm gonna assume this visit is taking place in the late spring or early summer or early fall, because it is so much easier to do things when the weather is nice. I'm also assuming that outdoor activities that involve lots of walking work for my friend. If they don't, I'd be happy to plan a day that involves awesome things and much less walking.

    We would start for breakfast either at Auntie's and Uncle's (tasty, small breakfast joint) or Sneaky Dee's (tex-mex greasy spoon). Then we'd walk the few blocks to Kensington Market, which is our awesome open-air market. Almost every stall is attached to a store front, but they have lots of their stuff displayed outside and you just wander from one to the next. There are grocery stores, dry goods stores, cheese shops, bakeries, clothing stores, kitchen stores, thrift stores, cafes, restaurants, etc, all in about a 5 block collection of streets. We'd get coffee (I love the lattes) at Moonbeam and wander around. If my friend eats dairy and bread, I'm pretty sure we'd buy some cheese and some bread for a snack. From there, we'd walk through Chinatown, which is right next to Kensington Market.

    If my friend is vegetarian/vegan, we'd probably go to Fresh for lunch. If they eat fish or like vegetarian sushi, we would probably choose the all-you-can eat sushi place nearby. (Although if they were from Seattle/Vancouver, I'd probably assume they have better sushi at home and choose a different destination).

    In the afternoon, we'd take a ferry across to Toronto Island and either rent bicycles or kayaks or both. We'd take pictures of the Toronto skyline because the view is the best from the island.

    We'd come back in time to head across town to Little India for dinner. Then we'd go to Second City (improv) for a show and to rest our weary legs. Knowing me, we'd get ice cream or frozen yogurt for dinner, but I'm not particularly picky about where. If they're a fancy ice cream type, I'd either take them to Greg's homemade ice cream or we'd head over to get gelato either in greektown or in little italy. I'd be fine just going to Baskin Robbins, though. :)

    We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
    with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
    IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
    BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
    2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.

  • Check in: Our carrier was approved on paper by our fertility clinic. She will be scheduling her sonohystogram and blood work sometime this week and will hopefully have all of the testing done in the next two weeks or so. It's odd - I'm thrilled that we have a carrier, but I'm not overly excited about things. We've been here before and our carrier backed out, so I think once we get through this and can at least start the legal stuff, I'll be more excited. It's not that I'm indifferent - I just can't seem to get my hopes up yet. 

    QOTW: I live in a small town, so there isn't a ton to do. We do have a cookie factory that gives out tons of free samples at the outlet store, so that would definitely be a stop. We'd also go out for subs (we have a great sub shop!) and go see the Little White School House which is a museum to the Republican Party (we are the birthplace of it!).

  • Check in:  With FET on Wednesday - I am trying to prep myself mentally.  Acupuncture today & then "pre & post" sessions Wednesday.  i am so nervous & excited!  We found out last week that my sister is pregnant with her 3rd child --- it would be so fun to have cousins that close in age.  FX! :)

    QOTD: Atlanta is a great place to visit.  Breakfast at Flying Biscuit is a great start ... then off to the aquarium or High Museum.  If the weather is nice - spend the afternoon in Piedmont Park on a blanket.  For the evening - - there are so many fun ethnic places on Buford Hwy.  We often just "adventure" dinner there.

  • Check in: Went for my lining scan this morning and it's at a 6.8 so I just have to wait for my RE to review it and get the labs (probably tomorrow) before I know when my next appt is. I'm guessing my e2 is going to be higher now than it got at all last cycle. I could be wrong but my random urges to cry and the (TMI...) CM factory now located in my lady parts is telling me I'm not. lol

    QOTD: Hmm I lived in Fort Worth for several years now but I don't know it as well as I should. I've been to a few museums that are good but can't remember the names. lol The botanical gardens are lovely and a great place for picnics or just hanging out/wandering around. Also, Segway tours of the gardens are available and are lots of fun! Tourist should check out the Stockyards and the daily cattle drive there. They also have rodeos there which is great for a group outing. (However, for main rodeos, I much prefer the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo to the Ft. Worth one because they have concerts with big name stars at night.)

    Eating...there are so many yummy places to eat! My favorite Mexican restaurant is Cantina Laredo in Downtown, which is a chain restaurant, but still the best! Two of mine & DH's other favorite places to go are Lucille's Stateside Bistro & Charleston's (another chain) which both serve American style food. Another local favorite is Babe's Chicken which serves the side dishes family style and each person chooses their own meat...you CANNOT eat here if you don't want to gain 5lbs in one sitting! lol Plus, there are tons of wonderful mom & pop type places, but too many to list here!

    Lots of ladies gearing up to cycle! FX for all of us!

    Update: I got the green light for Nov 19th transfer. I've been having really down days emotionally with fleeting moments of hope. It's really weird. This transfer may be our last shot at pregnancy before moving onto DIA so I think the reality is starting to hit me hard! :( Beta is Dec 2 so we actually put up Christmas decorations last night to try to relish in the Holiday season a little early in the event we do get bad news after this cycle. If the cycle works, we just get an extra long Christmas season. So why not?! :)

    QOTW:

    We'd have to go see the bats fly out from underneath the Congress bridge at dusk. We'd eat some amazing local BBQ like Cele store or even Salt Lick. We'd have to see some live music downtown on the weekend seeing how Austin is the live music capital of the world! Hmm...what else? Probably hit up the original Whole Foods location, which is quite the sight to see and about the size of a whole block. If it's swelteringly hot outside, we could go to Hamilton pool which is a natural swimming hole that looks like a piece of Hawaii in the middle of Texas. Or, we could go tubing down the comal river which is basically a floating party that lasts about 2 hours long!

    Finish it off with some handgun shooting and show some zombie target who is boss. :)

  • Hi all,

    I had my ER on Tuesday, which means that unless my math is wrong, the blast(s) were probably transferred to IM yesterday.  I am keeping my fingers crossed for them.

    Meanwhile, I am over the OHSS hill--much less bloating, no pain.  All is rosy.  

    I still do not know whether I will donate again, especially because it was much harder on MH than I expected (though I should have guessed).  Also, I feel bad when I tell work "gotta be out, going under general anesthesia, sorry," because they care about me and worry.  All I can say is "Don't worry, totally minor, only out b/c of GA" but of course the assumption must be that I am dealing with a health problem, and I feel bad about that.  Plus the long, early drives. Mehmehmeh.  And yet I still personally want to.  These are musings for a longer post, I suspect.  For now I delay. 

    Tourism in my town?  Redwood coasts.  They are world-famous for a reason.  There are some beautiful non-Redwood beaches nearby too.  Or the Santa Cruz boardwalk, just for fun--or north, to San Francisco, perhaps. Obviously I'm casting a pretty wide "my town" net here :)  My school's is worth a tour, in my opinion. What can I say, I'm a homebody and if someone visited my first move would be to pull out the boardgames :)

    FET scheduled for 12/2. At times, Im hopeful about transferring 2 good blasts...then I think about how it didnt work with the 2 fresh we transferred in September and I loose all hope.

    I hate this. It would be absolutely amazing for this to work out during the Christmas season, but really awful if its another failure. We decided to take the risk knowing this, felt like we didnt want to waste anymore time.

    QOTW- I leave near Boston, so we would have an amazing day in the city!! Would definitely go in the summer to a Red Sox game and hit up the bars after!!

    We'd have to go see the bats fly out from underneath the Congress bridge at dusk. We'd eat some amazing local BBQ like Cele store or even Salt Lick. We'd have to see some live music downtown on the weekend seeing how Austin is the live music capital of the world! Hmm...what else? Probably hit up the original Whole Foods location, which is quite the sight to see and about the size of a whole block. If it's swelteringly hot outside, we could go to Hamilton pool which is a natural swimming hole that looks like a piece of Hawaii in the middle of Texas. Or, we could go tubing down the comal river which is basically a floating party that lasts about 2 hours long!

    Finish it off with some handgun shooting and show some zombie target who is boss. :)

    Nothing new here-34 weeks today.  Nonstress test and OB appointment tomorrow. 

    I live near Chicago.  My day would start early, be in Spring or Summer.  We'd probably include Garrett's Popcorn, Portillo's hot dogs, and Lou Malnati's pizza among our meals and snacks.  I'd want to rent bikes along the lakefront, as I keep seeing all these blue Divvy bikes that the Mayor has stationed all over the city.  I'd take my friend to the Museum of Science and Industry.  It's my favorite museum and has many different hands on activities, we always have a blast when we go there

    I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow and baby boy is doing well. I had my shower this past Sat so am excited more than ever for his arrival!

    Q: I live right outside Philly but there is so much to do there & in the surrounding areas. I'd go with a walk down Kelly Dr to see Boathouse row ending at the famous Art Museum where Rocky ran up the steps. So pretty around there, especially during the Fall. Brunch at Parc in the city and a stroll through Rittenhouse square. Dinner at any Jose Garces restaurant..they are all fantastic!

    Little late to the party !! Nothing new here. Just trying to make the time pass. Nov is already a 1/4 over and it will be dec before we know it.
    Im so exctited to follow all your cycles and hear great outcomes for you all. I feel a little left out but my time will come!

    Qotw: were in central coast California so for sure a little wine tasting because my town of Paso Robles is well know for our wines! Then we could head over to the coast 30 min west and maybe go to Cambria and have a nice lunch and go to Hearst Castle for a little tour. Then drive 10 min north and see the elephant seals. During nov dec they are mating pretty crazy! Then head to san Luis obispo for dinner at a famous resteraunt the Madonna Inn and eat in the All PINK dining room steak house! Fun stuff!!

    My husband ( 33) and I ( 36) found out in August 2012 that he has azoopermia. At first we thought we could live without children but after four months we knew that was not the case. May 2013 we purchased four vials of donor sperm. We did all the blood work necessary. In July I had HSG done, my right tube is open, the left one was inconclusive, as they could not see it, but there was spillage around it. I did my first round of unmedicated IUI in August. Needless to say it was BFN.
    Second and third IUI's were also unmedicated and BFN.
    I will be doing my 4th IUI but this time with a trigger. 

    QOTW. Providenciales,TCI. I would do a half-day snorkel and conch cruise and dinner at Somewhere ( they have the best fish tacos)
  • Looks like many of us are getting ready for transfers, exciting times! I'm ready for my RBA consult a week from today. Although I'm also 45 min west of Boston, there are lots of beautiful outdoor areas/trails, museums, and a nice theater right here. And lots of good food too!

    9/15/14 - Our first son born thanks to donor eggs at RBA after 7 failed own egg IVF cycles.

    Wow - first, now I just want to go traveling! I've done a ton of the things so many of you mentioned (@beckyp9005 I LOVE Pamela's!!) - super fun updates.

    AFM - I'm shooting up with Lupron and my suppression check is Wednesday - seriously snuck up on me since I'm work traveling atm which has helped pass the time nicely. Assuming all goes well, we just do the drill: start patches to being building a lining, blood test next Wed; and then a lining check the day before Thanksgiving...and FET is scheduled for 12/5.

    This is FET#3...it's just feeling a little...well, sigh. However, we have decided to do one more cycle with frozen eggs (new donors) if this doesn't work. I'm not quite ready to give up - though, J tells me to stop thinking future and trust that this one could actually work. Fair point. So, with that, FX!!

    QOTW: It is SO hard for me to sum up Seattle in a day but - if it's a first timer and truly 1 day - Breakfast should start at a good coffeeshop, probably one of the ones we own :).  I'd vote for sure to go to Pike Place Market and have a stroll thru. There is a TON of food there, so grazing for lunch there is perfect. Then I'd say walk on 1st down to Pioneer Square and take a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island - now, depending on the person next would be one of two things. For nature lovers/small town vibe, I'd say stay over there, wander the quaint little town of Bainbridge, and drive a bit toward the peninsula - maybe even to Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park. If you're more of a foodie/city person, I'd say take the ferry back, have a breather/nap, and then dinner at one of a zillion cool Seattle restaurants - which I can suggest based on budget (super cheap? Paseo pulled pork sandwich, and good news - we are 3 blocks away and you can bring us some too, and we'll kick it in our back yard); to tons of locally sourced 'farm to table' joints; to super fancy 'events' like Canlis, Herbfarm, etc. And, if ya wanted, I'd join you for a bit of it too! I love being a Seattle tour guide :)

    I asked sizes for my nieces and nephew to get this out of the way before my transfer. If this doesn't work I'm sure I won't feel like shopping for a 5 month old. We have Christmas at our house...I'm not even going there. HUGS to you both and FX that you will have an awesome holiday :)

  • Wow, there is a lot going on! GL to everyone and (((hugs))) to those that need them.

    Update: nothing much really. At the end of this month I will have repeat bloodwork done to determine whether or not I have a blood-clotting disorder called Lupus Anticoagulant. The 2nd test should be done 12 weeks after the first positive one which was done at the end of August so it's a long wait! Then, depending on those results, I will look into cycling again. We had a 3 cycle package with a guarantee, and since those first 3 didn't work, the clinic offered me the option of another 3 cycles or our money back. This was great to hear because they had a price increase since we first signed up. But we haven't decided what we're going to do. It depends on the results of the blood work I guess. We haven't really talked about other options outside of this so who knows.

    QOTW: My city is known for its barbecue. So we would definitely have to hit up one of its famous joints. I'd also take you to one of our great Art museums, visit our historic Jazz district, and then end the day in an area of town modeled after older Spanish architecture, that has shopping, restaurants, and street performers.

    So far things are good on our end, we're getting ready to go to India and level on the 29th - I'm very excited. Aside from the surrogacy aspect, I've never been abroad and I can't wait! And it's a good time of year to go since the weather is comparable to our summer weather.

    QOTW - I would plan to take them to the Keith's Brewery tour, the Harbour Hopper (a downtown tour on a vehicle that goes on land and in the water) and finish it off with a kitchen party! It would be great fun :)

I am not holding out any extra hope but when I POAS this last time it was still positive and I use those clear blue with weeks and it went from the 1-2 to the 2-3 weeks and I know it doesn't mean anything. I am just hoping for a clear answer tomorrow so I can figure out what is next.

    Humm...Well I live in a boring town in Central CA, so I would say drive down towards Los Angeles to go shopping and/or the many amusement parks here in CA. Depends on what they are up for! :-)

  • How is it going? Well I am sorta benched. I benched myself this cycle. Felt that last cycle was off, and I did not give my body time to recuperate after m/c.

    What are your next steps? My next steps are to give time for myself/ time to heal.

    How are you feeling? Today, I am feeling good. Hopeful about upcoming cycle in Dec.

    QOTW: If you could plan a day in your city, including meals for a bumpie friend, what would the itinerary be? A day in So Cal. Wake up early for breakfast. Head to one of the many attractions here-eat at where ever we are close to. Go shopping. Have dinner at one of my spots- love introducing people to vegan food. Everyone ends up liking it because it's something that they would have never of guessed it would taste good.

  • Hi everyone! I haven't been actively posting in a while, but I've been trying to read everyone's posts.

    Check-In:
    How is it going? What are your next steps? How are you feeling?
    We'll be 13 weeks tomorrow! It seems so crazy since I haven't seen an ultrasound since 9 weeks, and the baby looked like a Bob's Big Boy. All of our appointments have gone well, and our GS sent us her first "bump" photo last night. We also had MaterniT21 testing done and just got results back that there are no chromosomal abnormalities and that we're having a boy! EDD is May 24, 2014.

    I'm praying hard for all of you, and hope that you all get your good news soon. It's taken us a long time to get to this point, and we're still feeling cautious.

  • Hello! I am a little behind in posting! Wishing everyone the best! I had my first de/ds embryo transfer this morning. We transferred 2 embryos so I am hoping & praying!! My city: the downtown is full of great restaurants. I would suggest coming to Greenville, SC in spring so you could walk around downtown, eat & enjoy the park. There is a minor league baseball team that would be fun to see if playing in town. There is a theatre to possibly see a show too. And the zoo is very nice. Small but fun. And a park that goes from the zoo to the downtown area. Lots of things to do outside!

    Check in:  July we are planning for an FET, which we've not done before.  Trying to learn all I can about FETs!

    QOTW: I live in Columbus, Ohio which being a fairly big city has a ton to do and see.  Some of my favorites are Lunch at Jason's Deli in Dublin.  There is a FANTASTIC salad bar, with delicious mini corn bread muffins, and free ice-cream.  If it were fall or spring or summer I would take my friend to one of the many metro parks in Columbus, my favorites are Darby Creek and Inniswoods.  Later, I would invite them to my house for a homecooked meal and a night of friends & family and board games.  :)

  • @sarahjeri I live in London, Oh but I work in Columbus so I spend (well, before bed rest) most of my day there anyway. Whenever we want to escape that is usually where we go. 

    Are  you doing your FET through Ohio Reproductive or the one in Westerville? We went through Ohio Reproductive--love them.
