Crib Mattresses. Your insight wanted!

Hi,
Tell me about your crib mattress and the whats and whys you chose it. The one we originally registered for is now discontinued, so back to the drawing board. We will be using a mattress pad, if that matters at all. Looking at reviews on Amazon and Target, it seems the less expensive ones actually have the highest rankings. Looking for insight!

Also, apologies if this is posted already - I don't have the patience to search right now =)

Thanks!

  • We have a Sealy soybean. It was highly rated by baby bargains and meets all our needs, we do not use a mattress pad because we felt it got in the way. We did use tie on mats for spit up when she was little.

  • Unless you really have strong feelings about organic, I say middle of the road price wise.

  • I trust reviews! :-D
Right now I'm going to register for the Sealy soybean one that's already been mentioned from Baby Bargains, but the #1 on Amazon is only $50 is the Safety First Heavenly Dreams. It also has fantastic reviews.

We got the Safety First Heavenly Dreams, based on the reviews. It's set up, but LO isn't here yet. It's good and firm, and fits our crib very well (Davinci Kalani).
  • I stressed out about this so much.  Apparently the more you read...the harder it is...  Many things sold as organic do not have organic coverings and have quite bad VOC release, etc.  Plus, I'm not sure it's regulated or possible to really figure out.  Just let whatever you get air out.  I'm also going to say that hard is not so good.  Of course you don't want fluffy, but if you get the firmest thing available, it is really hard and I would say uncomfortable.
