Maternity leggings??

I'm late to jump on the legging train to begin with, but thought being pregnant might be a good time to test them out. Anyone recommend a good pair? I want to wear them while teaching and not feel like my ass is on display.

Also, any good places for tunics?

Re: Maternity leggings??

  • Im also interested in this! The band of my current leggings cut into the center if my bump and make it look weird!

  • I got a pair from H&M yesterday for $13. Not the highest quality, but as long as they go under a tunic or sweater dress you should be good. They run a tad small, I'm usually small no questions asked, but I tried the mediums too before settling in the small.

  • I have a pair from motherhood maternity.
  • I never had worn leggings before this pregnancy. I found a pair of maternity ones at target and the first time or two that I wore them were strange..but now I love them! I need more pairs in more colors. All I can say is try em. It's strange at first but now it's very comfy :)
  • I also am a motherhood fan, but I think the quality might suck a bit. Now that they've been washed a couple times, they're already thinning. Regardless, super comfy and you can usually get them on sale.

Leggings sound comfy right now, but I've never worn them before.  What kind of shoes do you wear with them and should they go all the way down to your ankles?  Forgive my ignorance. :)

  • With my last pregnancy I just got a pair from Old Navy a size bigger than my normal size and they were fine. They were a fraction of the price compared to the Motherhood ones.

  • Agree, boots or ballet flats

They should go to your ankles unless they are Capri, and I only wear them with flats or boots.

  • I have old navy maternity leggings. They were a two pack for less than twenty bucks. Super comfy-saved my life in the beginning!. I might be moving to full panel because they are a little low when I bend over. Definitely worth trying, I'm a teacher too and I wear my two pairs every week with boots!
  • I started with a pair of black ones and now I have grey and brown as well. They are soooo much more comfortable. I got all mine from motherhood.

  • Target has some that have a dress pant like appearance and they also have nice tunics :). I think they look best with boots !

  • I always love my Lulu's or some of the leggings/jean things from NY&CO. But I also don't really have a bump yet so take those suggestions as you will.

For long tops I love H&M, Marshall's, and target

  • Bought some from target recently (mat). Just watch out you don't get thin ones that look like tights...
  • I tried leggings from Motherhood Maternity, but wasn't crazy about it. I have eczema on my legs and developed super sensitive skin the past few years where even pant seams would bother me. I'm self conscious about showing my legs so all I wear is leggings... even in the summer. I consider myself a leggings guru by now :)

I have leggings from Forever 21, Nordstroms, H&M, Old Navy, American Apparrel, Target, you name it and the most comfortable I've found so far are the Super Soft leggings from Gap. I get the ones that sit below the belly and always one size larger so it's not too tight and irritates my skin.

Give it a try. I think they're running a sale.
  • Bought 2 pair from H&M and have been living in them.  I'm usually a size small so I bought the same in maternity.  They're cheap so I figure if I have to size up later on in the pregnancy it's no big deal.

  • Okay, these aren't "maternity," but I bought them last week and they are AMAZING. They come in one size so I can use them during pregnancy and after (I am a big advocate for being able to use the clothes I buy during pregnancy after as well). They are cheap, comfy, good for winter, and durable.

Motherhood's leggings are legitimately the most comfortable things I own.  I already refuse to stop wearing them post-baby.  Love.

  • I got mine from Macy's. They are super comfy!

  • I have this pair from Old Navy.  They aren't maternity but have an elastic waistband and I just sized up- I think I'll be able to wear them the whole pregnancy.  I love them.  They are thicker than the typical legging material but fit just like a legging.  Also the thicker fabric is a plus for the winter.

Fleece lined?!?! Sign me up! Great price too! Did you notice a smell like the Amazon reviews stated?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I can't wait to go shopping. Now to find nude colored socks because there's no way I can go barefoot in a New England winter....
  • I have been living in my VS leggings/yoga pants and HUE jeggings.

I am not sure how well the Hues will hold up when I am bigger but for now they are amazing. I can wear a bella band over it to give the full or demi panel feel. They are really good quality, too.
