  remote control car or plane?  One of the good ones that you can drive around outside.

  My kids are a year younger than yours.  They have a dune racer that they love.  They ride it all over the place and have squirt gun fights from the passenger seat in the summer.  This dune buggy looks like fun too.
  
  Other than that, most of their love is saved for legos.  That's all they seem to play with at friends houses too. 
  
  Hopefully someone else has some ideas!

  I also got my nephew this cool science experiment kit at Costco a few weeks ago for $18.99.  The kit has three experiments.  One rock and gem dig, one volcano and one rocket ( powered with vinegar and baking soda).  My sister said he loved all of it.

  DS has a remote control fire truck and helicopter that he loves. He has asked for Legos, an astronaut outfit, and Star Wars stuff this year. You may already have one but DD got an easel for her birthday ans DS uses it as much as DD and loves it.

  And I'm thinking about the tinker toys transit set. One of the best things we ever got our kids is a gigantic teddy bear that they wrestle with, roll down the stairs onto and jump off the couch on. 

  
  

  For our big gift for the family I am thinking about getting a nice piano keyboard. I want the boys to start getting used to it because I'd like them to start lessons in the next year or two.

  DS is 5.5 and is really into the Imaginext line. He has the castle, pirate ship, and fire station. He is getting the Rescue City from Santa (see the holiday deal thread to get this toy for on $25).
