Re: 1st u/s (pic) intro.. 2Q's

  • Congratulations! A) I always told people my 37 week due date B) Yes, I had bleeding from a small Sub Chorionic Hemorrhage (SCH).  For me, it was a small amount and the doctor said not to worry about it.  It went away after a week or two.

  • Congrats! There are several forums that's say when everyone delivered at it varies SO much I had planned on 37 weeks but will be delivering day after tomorrow at 34 due to IUGR that came on hard and fast. If you type in the search box "when did you deliver" or look in the FQA you can see tons of answers :) As for bleeding I had subcronic bleed that was there for a few days but was gone before week 6.

  • I had spotting from about 2 or 3 days before my BFP at home (which was 11dpiui) through about 7 weeks. I had several large cysts leftover from treatment, but no SCH so my doc thought it could have been from the cysts or just random. Hang in there, the spotting is tough.

    And most importantly!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  • I had some brown spotting at about 7w5d. I went in to check and the ultrasound showed two healthy babies and nothing abnormal. OB wasn't sure why it happened but I haven't had any more since then. I had been doing some moving if heavy items a few days before it happened and had a vaginal ultrasound a 7w0d. I've just been trying to be overly cautious of what I'm doing/lifting since then.

  • July 13, 2013 was my due date with my girls! I had them June 23rd, exactly my 37th week. I was scheduled for a c-sec at 38w and 3 days.
No help with the spotting, though.
Big congrats and yay to twins!
  • Congratulations! I also got my BFP with twins 4dp5dt. Our 40wk EDD is 05/14/2014 and that's what I tell people followed by "but our doctor is just hoping we make it to 37 weeks". (04/23/2014)

I had a tiny spotting 2 or 3 days past our transfer (a little pink tinge when I wiped) but nothing major. At 9w2d I started bleeding really heavy (a mix of red and brown), made a trip to the ER and was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma. The bleeding subsided pretty quickly though and I had light spotting until 9w4d. Then at 11w3d & 11w5d I had some more dark brown spotting--from the SCH. My doctor said they're very common and didn't seem too concerned because mine's not very large. Even if your doctor didn't see one on the u/s, you could still have tiny one. Just try to take precautions and keep an eye on things.

I'm now 13w5d and everything seems fine, but I'm getting an ultrasound every month just to monitor both babies' growth and make sure the SCH isn't getting larger.
  • I had a bit of brown spotting at 10 weeks that lasted 3 - 4 days on and off. It was old blood, nothing to worry about, US showed two healthy babies.

I tell everyone January 9, which is my 38 week mark. 40 weeks would be Jan 23. BUT be forewarned, some people then says "oh so they will come sooner than Jan 9" and I have to explain that I am already accounting for that, real dd is Jan 23, but that yes, it could be even earlier than that.

Congrats and welcome! This board has been so helpful, informative, entertaining, and very supportive, even though my duo were not my first babies. Multiples pregnancies (and life afterwards) can come with a different ballgame at times.

As far as the spotting, I had a small amount at that early stage with my twins that my OB figured was related to implantation. You're still fairly early, so possibly that may be it, but I did not have IVF so maybe that's not true in your case? I dunno if that would change things or not....
Take it easy and try not to freak out.

I knew I was going early from the beginning since I had a history of preterm babies prior to the twins. Those symptoms (PTL) showed up with the twins as well and I clung on until 34w5d.

If I'm reading your siggy right, looks like your are a first time mom (FTM)...
So as far as your EDD, even if you make it to 38+ weeks, if anyone offers to throw you a baby shower, most MoM's on here would encourage you to inform the hostess to plan around having the shower at 28 weeks, for various reasons. Trust me on that one :)

  • Congrats and welcome!  I always thought of my 40 week EDD even though we never would have gone that far, developmentally and growth wise their gestational age is dependent on the 40 week EDD.  It's up to you what you tell people.  Usually I was kind of vague especially with strangers.  The average gestational age for a twin birth is 35 weeks though.  I never had any spotting with my twins but I heard it's more common.  I'd recommend getting Dr. Luke's book on multiples.
  • Welcome and congratulations!  I have a bit more experience with bleeding and spotting then most ><  I'm glad for the most though :)  With each of my singletons, I spotted with EVERY single internal exam.. nothing ever came of it though. One was born at 40 weeks and 3 days, the other at 38 weeks or so.  With the twins, I ended up hemorrhaging so badly that I  and the doctors were sure I was having a miscarriage.  BUT :D two ultrasound and two units of blood transfused later, they let me go home because the twins were dancing up a storm on the ultrasound screen and I'd long since stopped bleeding.  That was well over a month ago.

I guess the moral of that story is not to worry too much, get help when you need it, and never ever give up hope!  No matter how negative the ER doctor sounds :p

  • With di/di, it's safe to estimate around 37-38w. A lot of people can go all the way to 40w with di/di, but many practitioners choose to induce at the 38w mark if you haven't already gone into labor. We planned to go all the way to 38w 4d if I hadn't ended up with pre-e. Perinatologist let me schedule that date as my induction and everything... until my next dip showed protein, lab showed a drop in platelets, and BP jumped... then I got moved up to 37w. Stupid pre-e and it's evil ruining of my planned birthing date... so inconvenient. LOL

  • I spotted from 7w3d through 13 weeks pretty consistently. There was never any reason for it.

I am 33w3d today and 1 centimeter dilated. I have had no complications other than shortened cervix. They could come tomorrow or in 3 weeks. The average for all twins is 35 weeks. Some are delivered at 28 weeks, others are induced at 38 with no end in sight. Things change very quickly In Twins pregnancy so you cannot really have expectations for anything - jut roll with the punches! That's why we are monitored so closely and frequently.

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs.  Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!
  • Welcome and congrats!

I had pink/brown spotting on/off for the first few weeks that I attributed to the progesterone supps. Then a gush of blood sent me to the ER at 13 weeks, that was an endocervical polyp. I think spotting is common, especially with multiples, but if in doubt, ask your RE!

  • Welcome and Congrats!

I was planning on going till 37-38 weeks. I usually told my EDD (Nov 7) and just said we hope to make it till mid Oct. Well, I made it till the end of Sept (Stupid HELLP syndrome!). My OB also thought I had di/di twins (they were mo/di) so I wasn't monitored as well as I should have been.

  • Congratulations! I always told people my 37w "due date" and they were born @ 36w6d so it was pretty darn accurate! I also had quite a bit of bleeding early on in my pregnancy but it stopped at about 8 weeks. I also had a small bout of bleeding at about 16 weeks. Both times there was no known cause and my kiddos are both happy and healthy nearly 15 month olds. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

  • I am pg after IVF w di/di like yours. I spotted in week 10 (brown) and week 12 (pink/red) and freaked. Babies were fine. First time was nothing they could find (old blood) and second time was a group B strep UTI. Treated and fine since. I'll be 17w Wednesday. My MFM said our goal is 35w bc these are babies 7&8 for me, I always have PTL, pre eclampsia, and Cholestasis.
  • Congratulations! I told people my actual due date. Then when we scheduled my induction (38w2d) I have them that date as my due date. I ended up delivering just a few days shy of that at 37w4d.
