Moms who have moved with LO

Please help!  After our big move from AZ to CT, I am looking for a new pediatrician, and I am not exaggerating when I say that I have called like 10 places and no one is accepting new patients except for newborns!  Oh, and all the staff in every doctor's office in CT is super extra rude this lovely Monday morning. Fun times.

How did you do it?

  • Is it possible to call your insurance company and have them look up offices that are accepting new patients, then work with that list?  Or for our insurance plan, I can look them up online.
BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks) BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy) BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy) BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12) BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)

Well that's the first hurtle. Right now we're on state insurance and there aren't many docs who accept it.  And even when I called them and got some names, those docs aren't accepting new patients unless they are newborns.

Got it.  That's annoying.  Maybe some of the offices that are not accepting new patients would be able to refer you to someplace that would?  Is there the option of just going to a clinic for now until you're on different insurance (since it sounds like the state one is only temporary)?

  • persistence paid off!  Finally on my 18th office call, I found one that will take him as an older infant and will accept the state insurance.
