Who's still on bottles?

Perhaps this should be my FFFC but DD still has two bottles a day: one first thing in the morning (or like today, at 5am, then she goes back to sleep) and one at bedtime. Help! How do I get rid of these?

  • Lol. Glad to hear I'm not alone! I would not be too concerned except (a) I know I'm going to get crap about it when she goes for a 15mo checkup next week; (b) I'm so tired of washing bottle parts!

  • LO gets the same 2x a day.  I really don't think she needs it all and if SO isn't home, I will just give her a sippy cup and cuddle with her and she is fine for the evening.   The morning bottle I think she could do in a sippy as well as she has no problem throughout the day.   It is like fighting a losing battle though because SO won't take it away from her.  I am looking forward to her next well visit so the Pedi can explain to him she really doens't need it.

  • We still do 2 a day. Evie simply won't drink more than a few oz of milk out of a cup. Any other drink is fine- it is so weird. I am prepared to take crap for it at our next appointment.

  • We are still on them 3xs a day. Once for morning nap, afternoon nap, and bed time. He just will not drop the bottles at when he wants to sleep.
  • We do 2 a day, one before each nap. We have been slowly dropping them every few weeks since about 13 months. We got rid of the bedtime one and the morning one recently so I am happy with that. I think we will drop the bottles when he drops to one nap. It also ensures he gets 16-24 oz a day because without the bottles he only gets about 10. I don't think bottles are a huge deal but will chat with his pedi about it at his 15 month check up.

  • Three a day, each about 10 minutes before naps or bedtime.  Mid-November, we are going to switch to a sippy at bedtime and then worry about naps (which are mostly at daycare.)

I'm not terribly concerned at this point.
  • My sister (nanny) has been able to cut all weekday daytime bottles. But H and I are struggling to do the same on weekends. D still wakes up 2-3 times a night and a bottle is the only way that gets him back down. So he does about 16oz in a bottle at night. I'm tempted to throw them all out and go cold turkey but I can't handle the screams at night. Lol!

  • We do one right before bed.  We got rid of it right around a year, but then DD got sick and we went back to it, and haven't tried to switch again.  We have her 15-month appointment on Friday and we'll see if our pediatrician tells us to get rid of it.

  • We still use the Nuk learner cups which I hear people say are basically the same as the bottle.

  • We still do one at nap time and one at bed time. It's not ideal but because of the way DH and I are scheduled to work nap time and bed time are almost always solo parenting projects and they fall right to sleep with a bottle. The idea of trying to wean them both off bottles terrifies me. I worry I'll never sleep again.

  • Up until about a week ago, we were still doing one in the am and one before bed.  We stopped cold turkey and DS hasn't had one since.  I honestly thought he'd never drop the bottles, plus DH was really sad at the thought of it which was another reason we were pushing it off!  He fought us really bad the first few days, but we changed up our morning and nighttime routine just a little bit and the past 2 days, he's actually done really well.  And that's on top of being sick this week.  So he surprised us, yet again!

  • We did bottles FOR EV ER with J and A.  I think they were well past two.  Whoops!  Em doesn't take bottles but he is still attached to my boobs and I don't know how we'll ever break him of it.

  • Two a day. Morning and bedtime. He loves the bonding time with both so I don't know when we will ever get him off it. The pedi isn't concerned. She said her children were the same way and she was in no rush. He likes drinking from normal cups better than sippy cups so I guess we will just let him do it on his own.
