June 2014 Moms

*~* Born To Run June Bugs Check-In *~*

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...

GTKY: Lets talk maternity running gear. If you ran through a previous pregnancy, what were your favorite items for covering your bump? If you are starting to show, what items have you found so far? Links appreciated :)

  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... I haven't run since Wednesday so I only hit 9.3mi for the week. Boo!! I was going to run a 3rd day on Saturday and it was raining. Sunday my daughter started getting sick so it has been a lost cause.

GTKY: Lets talk maternity running gear. If you ran through a previous pregnancy, what were your favorite items for covering your bump? If you are starting to show, what items have you found so far? Links appreciated :)I have never run through a pregnancy and own nothing for maternity work outs. I bought another sports bra that was a size bigger to accommodate the inevitable breast growth (which hasn't kicked in for me yet). I bought a Lululemon running pull over that seems like it will stretch over a bump (through the winter at least). I need suggestions for sure!

  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... My long run this week was only 8 miles since I am in the final week of my taper before the Philly Marathon. It went well and I got to run with a favorite running buddy which is always fun! We kept around 9:20 pace, and it felt comfortable.

If you are starting to show, what items have you found so far? Links appreciated :) This is my first rodeo so I will be following along for the answers from STM+! Most of my winter running gear is compression so I am interested to see if that helps or hinders me as I get bigger. Almost of all of the women in my running group are mommas who have run through their pregnancies so I am lucky to have a lot of resources to get ideas from!

No runs this past week but I need to get out there because I have a 5K on Thanksgiving and don't want to be horrible.

I have never run through a pregnancy, but I do have some shirts that I trust will work well for me for at least the next few months. They are from Walmart's Danskin Now collection, a bubble tank with a drawstring at the bottom, and they are nice and long, so I feel like the length and extra width in the body will work well for me. (Sorry, can't find a link.)

  • I'm so excited that I finally have a response for this post. My energy miraculously reappeared last week, and I am so thankful it did.

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...I did 3, 3 mile runs. I planned on doing more over the weekend but we just got bogged down with house work and other plans. But, 9 miles has never felt so good!

A friend of mind said when she was pregnant, she went to the Nike outlet because they have a ton of larges and XL's in stock. She said she stocked up on those and they worked out fairly well, so I plan on doing the same.

Not good.  I think I was out twice the whole week.  We were on vacation and walked around a bit, but will NEED to pick up the running habits again this week.  Give me motivation!

I usually buy the cheap C9 ones from Target (I don't have much) so they work normally and while they still fit fine, the support isn't as good as I would like it to be while I'm running.  I heard that sometimes people just double up on the bras but that can't be comfortable either!  Hoping others chime in on this!

    very neat!
  • I always wear two sports bras, pregnant or not. I've heard great things about Moving Comfort bras but I am wary to buy one now that my size will be changing. The Enell ones are supposedly great (haven't tried it myself) but I've heard they can feel like a straightjacket. hope that helps!

  • Still on Pelvic Rest so no running for me :(  I was clear to do the elliptical though.  Never thought I would thrilled to do the elliptical!

GTKY: I just continued to wear my regular workout clothes.  I love the Lululemon CBRs (cool racerbacks) they are longer to begin with and stretch well but also return to regular after.  I have them in like 12 different colors.
