In another post someone mentioned she had already started holiday shopping. While I have casually thought about it, I am nowhere near starting it.
So, let's hear what everyone is getting for everyone and what you would love to receive.
What do all the DH's want this year?
Are you buying your new LO something or chalking it up to "they won't know/remember anything anyway" or "that's what grandparents are for"?
And for those of you with other kids, what are you getting for them? Bonus points for advice on what to get an almost-2-year-old.
And Go.
Re: Let's Talk Holidays
My girls, 2 & 3, get a book, a toy, and something to wear. There stockings are filled with stuff they need like soap, toothbrushes, hair bows, etc.
LO will just get a stocking this year.
DH always gets a hat from one of the girls and a socks or a belt from the other. He hasn't mentioned what he wants so I don't know what he wants yet.

I want all new make up.
I've bought some stuff for kids I'll just add a pic of what I got so far.
For my LO I'm just doing a stocking, one big gift from Santa and a few small things under the tree. I got my almost two year old giant lego building blocks, a tool table with play tools, riding car toy and a new wagon.
The 15 yr old boy we are getting new shoes, a new jacket, cell phone cover and a gym membership. Few other small things.
The 12 yr old dd we are doing clothes, cell phone and new violin.
DH: I have no freaking clue. I was going to surprise him with a new pair of boots but he informed me yesterday that he needed a new pair stat. So now I'm back to square one. He has every tool known to man, does not wear ties, reads what I read etc.
DS: He is getting a new pair of boots, for sure. He does not really play with toys, maybe a new video game, fishing equipment & outdoor things.
Me: I never ask for anything and I probably won't start now. I can't really think of anything I want. Maybe my husband to shut up while I'm typing this.
DD: She will get developmental toys.

DD1 is 6 and wants a Rainbow Loom to make the bracelets that "everyone at school has!"
I'm sure we will get her Despicable Me 2 and a few other movies too.
And any arts and crafts stuff is a hit with her, new markers are needed at this point.
When she was 2 we got her a playdoh table with lots of playdoh and accessories.
LO will probably get a few things, maybe some board books and age appropriate toys. I'm sure big sister will want to get her something.
Do you all have a play kitchen? I keep thinking we may eventually get one but that it is a slippery slope to having play food all over the house.
LO will be getting a few gifts. Mostly little toys. Do you think he would mind if we wrapped up diapers and gifted them to him? lol
DS1 is 11 and has everything. He is so hard to buy for. Probably will be getting him ITunes gift card, clothes, and tickets to a basketball game as his big gift. I also get him a hot cocoa mug gift set every year as a tradition to drink our Christmas cocoa in.
No clue what we are getting LO. Some books maybe? Some PJs?
And I want family pictures done.

I ask DH for new underwear (I like the Victoria's secret pink stuff) every year but he always freaks out about going into that store without me lol.
I've got all sorts of stuff on sight for DS who'll be 2.5 like one of those matchbox cat carriers with slots for all the cars and possibly a play kitchen. No clue for DD... What does a 2 month old new other than diapers? dS was 5 months old on his first Christmas so I had a little more to work with but 2 months is a little younger even to get toys for later on.

For DH I have no idea what to get he is much better at the gift giving than I am.
We also adopt a family so we do smaller stuff for each other.
DD (almost 3) has too many toys so we are starting a swing set fund for her (our parents idea). She will get some coloring books, puzzles, and a stocking too. DS will get something from DD (likely a toy she wants lol) and I will buy him a stocking from PBK to match DD's.
I want a new case for my phone and a gift certificate to get my hair done or get a pedi. I am all about practical gifts!
Not sure what to get LO. Maybe some books and new Pj's. Baby's first Christmas engraved ornament. Nothing to exciting since he won't know what's going on. In sure next year will be more exciting.
I have a December birthday too so it's a busy month.
We might just go with a combined bigger gift like an iPad that all of us could use. I'm hoping for a new coat for my birthday and maybe a new alarm clock that I can use as a docking station for my iphone for Christmas.
SD10 is getting a smaller bunch of gifts from us this year. Partially due to all our hospital expenses and the overabundance of stuff in her room. Her room is always a mess and we told her to either organize giving stuff away or get less. She has opted to get less (from us at least, I know the grandparents will all send tons of stuff). She is getting from us: a weather clock (has a little figure telling her what to wear given the forecast - a need), a stand for her iphone that she uses as a video camera (want), a gift card to Barnes and Noble (read), and a robe (wear). I'll probably encourage people to get her gift cards to Justice. We need to set up a new college fund for her. She had one, but her mom drained it a few years ago. We'll set this one up without her mom on it.
DH may get something MtG related like leather deck box and/ or a wii so that he can play old snes games.
No clue for DH. There were 3 video games released recently that he wants but doesn't want to wait that long, so we might just consider them early gifts and be done with it.
He thinks he's getting me a new kitchenaid mixer, and we definitely can't afford that now, so he'd better not.
We're just getting small gifts for everyone else this year, looking for good deals.
DH is the HARDEST to buy for.
DD2 wasn't going to get anything until DD1 sat down and told us "I will ask Santa for toys for baby A1 because she's too little to talk. What does baby A1 want? And I will open her presents because she's too little to open them." Dammit. I'm buying her clothes and books and rewrapping DD1's old toys.
1 they want
1 they need
1 to wear
1 to read
We aim to do that but it doesn't always fit perfectly into those categories without overlap. And I could never buy just 1 book. I'm a bibliophile.
Yeah, I bet. We just visited some friends who are on their second play kitchen. They said their kids destroyed the first one. Not even sure how that happens. And yet DD1 tried to climb into a play kitchen at a toy store once.
