LO is 12.5 weeks old, and we have been supplementing since she was about 2 weeks old because she was having transfer issues and wasn't gaining weight (she lost 5 oz in 7 days, which is when we had to start supplementing). For the first month, we had to use some formula because I couldn't pump enough for all the supplements (1.5 oz at every feeding plus a 3 oz bottle in the MOTN).
As we worked through LO's nursing issues, we started eliminating the supplements one by one while monitoring her weight to make sure she was gaining appropriately. For the past month, I have been able to pump enough so that she has been getting all BM, and I have been able to freeze some milk each day, which is great, but my ultimate goal was always to get back to EBF with no supplementing.
Today, for the first time in over 2 months, LO won't be getting a single supplement, and my freezer stash is up to 90 oz!! I couldn't have gotten to this point without all the support I received from DH and our families and the advice I've gotten on this board. I hope our journey can help others who are struggling. Thank you!!!

We had the LC evaluate LO's latch for any issues and did a lot of reading on our own to make sure she was latching properly.
I used a nipple shield starting in the hospital because nursing hurt so much. The LC didn't think the shield was a problem, but our instincts said differently, so once we determined it was a transfer problem, I weaned off the shield, and that, along with really working on LO's latch intensively for a few days, made a world of difference. She started nursing better and transferring more milk. We also made sure she was eating every 2.5 hours during the day and every 3 at night with one 4 hour stretch. This included waking her to eat, as she seemed content to sleep through feeding time.
We also have a baby scale ($50 on Amazon and worth every penny) that we use to weigh LO every day so that we could adjust her feedings/supplements as needed instead of having to wait for a pedi appointment to find out how she was doing. Once we were confident that she was gaining appropriately, we tried removing one supplemental bottle. We had to try a few times before we could take away one supplement and have her still gain weight, but once that happened, we removed an additional supplement every few days (assuming she was gaining) until we finally got down to zero supplements.
I still pumped 6 times a day until about a week ago to keep my supply up and build a freezer stash, but now I'm down to 3-4 pump sessions a day and plan to decrease to 2 sessions in another week or so. Then I'll keep the 2 sessions to continue building my stash.
HTH, and feel free to PM me!
