Today's Item: WEN with special guest, Turbie Twist
My hair sucks. Fine, straight, cowlicky, and frizzy all at once. I've tortured my hair with pink foam rollers, a perm, curling irons, flat irons, color, highlights and all types of mousse, hairspray, and serums. Except for one magical year at 29 when it totally behaved, I can usually count on flat dry staticky locks ending up in a ponytail every day. But perhaps I'm wrong and it's not my hair that sucks, it's my shampoo! Yes, yes that's the ticket. Find the holy grail of shampoos and my life, er hair, for hair is not life (or is it?!), will change for-eva! Remember ads for this product?
Mezmorizing testimonials! I'm entranced by the possibilities! But I'm a kid with no money. I don't think I've ever tried this stuff personally but friends have debunked its hair healing powers. So the quest continues, and the allure of Wen becomes too much to resist. And hey I'm an adult with money! I didn't order from the site or call the number because they required a subscription and I never trust they will cancel a subscription. I suspect it will be like when Chandler tried to quit the gym! So I order from a distributor on Amazon. Could it have been a knock off? Perhaps. I tried it anyway.
I was NOT amazed. You have to use so much product which is crazy to me. It didn't make my hair worse but I certainly did not get smooth bouncy humidity proof hair. My MIL uses it too and her hair is not exactly red carpet ready either. We do have softened well water though which is still hard on hair so maybe it was just too big a challenge for Wen.
So now I use cheap Dove shampoo, switching it up every now and then to avoid buildup. Then I wrap my wet head in a Turbie Twist which is a small towel for your head. It is supposed to be super absorbent to cut down drying time and while I haven't really found that to be true, I do like that I don't have to balance a full size towel on my head while applying make up. That's all I have to say about that so it didn't deserve it's own review.
Verdict: Wen is a really expensive meh shampoo for me but is actually an excellent shaving cream
Your thoughts? Any styling tools out there worth the hype? Please help my stupid head.

I have the same hair type and it is just sooooo much fun! NOT It is like have a mop on my head. I use Redkin and that works really well for me especially the Extreme product because PP when my hair was falling out this really helped to strengthen it and keep it growing. My favorate hair product I use whenever I shampoo my hair is real Moraccan Oil. I use the tynies amount and rub it in when my hair is damp. No fly aways and lots of shine.
@nobadwriting what is this Sauve Morracan shampoo you speak of where do you get it? I might be interested in trying this stuff out. I agree Sauve products are a good version of more expensive products. When my hair is platinum they have this stuff in a purple bottle that keeps your blonde blonde for a really good while.
I am totally going to try this, thanksWhile we are reliving hair dos and don'ts I must admit I am intrigued by the new clamshell curlers but I'm having flashbacks to the hot roller hell of my youth. Remember those colorful hot sticks that supposedly gave you perm worthy spirals? Yeah, I can still recall the aroma of overheated rubber and burnt fingertips.
