Hi, I am new to this board but I have been lurking a bit and I was hoping to get some advice from you ladies. DD is 19 months and I am 12 weeks tomorrow with #2. I got laid off last week, and we literally can't pay the bills unless I'm working and making almost as much as I used to, so I am looking for a new job. I have a couple prospects already but my question is: when do I tell a prospective employer? I know I am not entitled to FMLA since I won't have been at any job for a year when I have the next baby but does that mean that anyone who might hire me now could fire me when I have the next baby just because I need time off for maternity leave, even a shortened maternity leave if I don't get enough PTO or vacation time to cover it (I'm not expecting to get anything more than 2-3 weeks for the first year I'm at any job)? I would appreciate any thoughts or advice... I live in Indiana if that matters at all, and we're going to start telling family so I'm concerned that potential employers that check social media will see something before I tell them and hold that against me or something too.

Re: Intro and job hunt question
Tell potential employers only after you receive a formal offer. I am not sure what you do but typically you will want this in writing. Then like PP, discuss and negotiate the leave. Depending on the company, FMLA rules might not matter and they may have a policy that covers you anyway.
I wouldn't say anything until you get an offer.
I'm kind of in a similar boat. We are ttc after a very long, unemployed year and I just got a new job. We pulled the reigns until thanksgiving now but that only gives me 11 months employed if I get pregnant easily. I don't want to put it off any longer bc ds will be 4 next year
