Bikini or covered up?

What are your thoughts on baring it all while at the beach/pool while pregnant? Apparently, some people think bikini are offensive to wear if you are with child..We are at the beach right now (live in FL), and I plan are rocking the bikini until baby comes (even if I look like a beluga whale).. Ain't no shame in my game haha. (Currently 18 weeks)

Re: Bikini or covered up?

  • I've only had a couple of opportunities during my pregnancy to wear a swimsuit. I think the bikinis fit better than a one piece.

  • Bikini! If you've got it and you're proud of it, rock it! Who is anyone else to be offended by what you put on your body (assuming it isn't racist or otherwise actually offensive to a specific target of people) whether you're pregnant or not!?

  • Pregnancy is the only time I'm ok with a bikini :)
But personally I prefer a tanking for myself :)

  • Thanks for the feedback. This board rocks.. I haven't posted much, but hopefully with work slowing down I will be able to get in on the action. Now, back to the ocean I go!
  • I plan on wearing bikinis myself. Flaunt it girl!
  • Bikinis on pregnant women make me uncomfortable, not because they are offensive, but because I have trouble not staring and then I feel like a creepster. This is my first and I just haven't been exposed to it so I'm curious what I'm in store for. If you've got it flaunt it I guess, but I am definitely not at a point where I would while I'm in the is she chubby or pregnant phase.

  • Rock it! I bought a maternity 2 piece recently.... Only because my bikini doesn't fit the girls anymore..... Plus maternity ones were on sale at the time!
  • I love pregnant women in bikinis.  Looks so cute!

  • I think it has helped me "own" this pregnancy and the changes that have happened already to my body.. Probably sounds strange.. And I think the hubby likes it more than me! We are really into surfing (which I gave up at 15 weeks), he thinks the baby is more in tune with the ocean now.. Weirdo lol
  • Definitely go for it! I am so jealous... It's 40 degrees and rainy here in PA :(

  • Do it! I wore mine in Orlando last week with a very noticeable baby bump.
  • Bikini! I wore my usual bikini last pregnancy...it was awesome to be able to wear something NOT maternity! Also, I saw lots of expecting women at the pool this summer, I thought they looked cute.

I think this hits the nail on the head! People get offended by a pregnant woman in a bikini because they don't know where to look! Its like a pregnant woman in tight fitting clothing, or something that doesn't cover their bump, people find that offensive as well. I've already had people say I hope you are going to dress right!!!!

Personally, if you are comfortable, do whats right for you!!!! and hun, you look hot!

  • With DD I wore a tankini. I think it's more about what's comfortable to you. You are in one of the most uncomfortable times of your life. If a bikini feels good, go for it!

  • People will eventually run out of innocuous things to get offended about. And if they don't, well, that's their problem, not mine.

  • I have so many stretch marks from my first that I wouldn't be comfortable :( If I didn't have them it would be no problem!

Well I don't know where to look when women dress inappropriately and have ass and boobs hanging out, but who am I to dictate what they wear?

  • You look great! I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I ordered a one piece online that hasn't arrived yet/wouldn't fit yet anyway. But I plan on bikini till the end unless I get crazy stretch marks or too self conscience.

  • I wore a bikini last time right up until the end, I had a maternity tankini but it looked awful, it hung loose on the bottom of my belly but felt so constricting on the middle.  This time I'll wear my same suit I've been wearing while BFing DS.  Its actually a nice sports bra with a black bikini bottom, covers better than any bikini I've ever owned and was supportive.

A pregnant belly is beautiful and natural. If you feel comfortable - rock it sister. If people are offended or uncomfortable they don't have to look!

  • I'd rock it if I could. I have stretch marks bad from my first (had plenty, no more with my second!) that I can't. We are going to Disney in January with my mom for her birthday, and I am assuming it will be not extrememly hot then, so I'll probably do a bikini with a cover up for myself.

  • I'd definitely wear the bikini. I remember trying a one piece at eight months with my son and I was terribly uncomfortable. It was itchy and made me so hot. Tankinis looked terrible, I was a waking tent.

  • Wear it! I've worn mine twice so far during this pregnancy! I may have gotten a few more stares at the pool this week since my twin bump is really sticking out of my lil body but I didn't care cause swimming, walking, and stretching is about all I'm allowed to do! So I'll enjoy myself and not worry about what other people thought of my neon pink bikini and babies bump!
  • I'm a cover up gal, but pregnant women in bikinis are adorable.
  • Nessa- so cute!!!
