April 2014 Moms

Christmas ideas?

My family is a little nutty and like to get their Christmas shopping done like now. My mom is already harassing me for ideas and other than stuff for the baby I don't know what to tell her. What are you all asking for? I thought maybe you ladies would know of some nice products you are really wanting. Things to pamper us or cute trendy things you're dying to get that are good for mommies. I'm just lost this year. I usually just ask for clothes!

Re: Christmas ideas?

  • I'm asking for a nice robe that I can wear in the hospital and beyond, a package of prenatal yoga classes, and a new diaper bag!
  • Loading the player...
  • We're only asking for things the baby needs, and groceries.

  • I'm just asking for diapers and wipes. You can never have too many!!
  • You could ask for dry shampoo... Taking a shower can get hard sometimes, maybe some post baby clothes like sweats and big shirts.. If you want somthing for yourself rather then just baby stuff.. I'm asking for just baby things cause I can't think of anything that I want for Christmas.
  • Thanks ladies. I like the pedicure and massage ideas and the take out food gift certificates is brilliant! I know I can ask for stuff for me I just always panic and have a brain fart when she asks. Sephora gift card would be good too.

  • Some ideas specifically for you...

    - new shoes / jewelry / accessories (comfy cute flats, fun earrings, and scarves always fit and can jazz up your outfits when you're bored of your maternity wardrobe near the end of pregnancy and post partum)
    - gift cards to your favorite clothing stores to treat yourself post partum
    - spa gift certificates
    - Kindle &/or Amazon gift cards / Netflix membership -- great to be able to read or watch movies/shows during nursing & pumping sessions

I'm asking for a new pair of Kendra Scott earrings, a new cookbook, some kitchen goodies, a gift cert to Pure Barre, and the Phil & Ted Lobster clip on high chair. That last one is obviously baby gear, but oh well!

  • All I want this year is baby stuff or art supplies. Mainly baby stuff though :-)
  • Honestly, I just want baby stuff too. It's going to be a huge help. I feel pretty content otherwise. I like getting gift cards from people.

Gift cards are my favorite gift!
  • My hubby and I asked both our parents to go in on a nice chair for the baby's room. They loved the idea not only because they got to go shopping and spend the day with us but also were making a big contribution to the baby's room (especially since we have already done so much being overly excited for our first)!
  • We'll be asking for baby stuff for Christmas.  Babies R Us has the free store pick-up, which is really convenient when family lives far away.  Since they live close to the US border they will probably get us a gift card for a couple of american restaurants.
  • We're boring and just getting money to buy baby stuff. My DH and kids will get me my small list of a new candle, barnes and noble gift card, cute socks and a new mug possibly.

    On my list:

A nice pair of maternity pjs/robe
    Prenatal massage
    Makeup from Clinique
    Lululemon pants
    A new Patagonia sweater

My family doesn't give baby gifts for Christmas when the baby is not yet here.  Also, this is our second baby so we have almost everything :)
  • My mil is getting my some Vera Bradley luggage pieces. It will be nice to use it in the hospital and then on vacations. My mom is giving everyone cash

  • I know my parents are just planning on getting baby stuff since they haven't asked me what I want, but I know they have been shopping (and usually have asked by now--my bday is at the end of November so they always ask late October/early November.) I'm okay with that though since we have nothing. :)

What I was going to ask for of she had asked though was a food processor! Or carpet shampoo-er. Both are big gifts though. I agree about jewelry, books, or gift cards being great things to ask for. I also like things like fun/interesting coffee beans or chocolate, or even bed sheets (mostly cause I need some!)

  • I'm asking for matnerity clothes and an extra set of sheets. Both things I anticipate needing because of baby. :)
  • I know this isn't a gift idea, but what I started doing a few years ago was pinning anything I came across that I thought would be a good gift idea for me (I never know what to say when people ask what I want) to a "wish list" pin board on Pinterest and I just sent a link to my DH, mom and MIL. It's been very helpful.

I totally told both sets of grandparents to hit up the registry. Even though this is #3, it's been 6 years since the last grand baby, and they're itching to buy baby stuff! I figured it was just easier. And there's nothing I really want. Besides someone to come clean the house every once in a while. I've asked for that every bday and Christmas for 10 years...I still put it on the list, even though it's never happened!!! A girl can dream, right?! :)

Edit: their -> they're. Stupid preg brain.
