DH left this morning for 2 days. Here's what I plan on doing just because he's gone:

1) I'm turning the heat on full blast
2) staying in our PJs and watching movies
3) I'm going to eat cookies and drink wine in bed tonight while watching romcoms

What do you do when your spouse is away?

When DH was gone earlier this week I just drank and watched Downton Abbey every night.

Well, he's usually only gone if I send him away to his parents with the kid. Then I make a pitcher of sangria, turn on trashy TV, get drunk and clean the shit out of the house. Order pizza/delivery and basically just enjoy being alone. It's epic and awesome.

I think I'm due. That hasn't happened since before I was pregnant with DD1.

H has been gone all week. I've had the heat cranked and I finished all the Halloween candy. We were in jammies yesterday but that's mainly because DD was sick.

Now that DD is here, there really isn't anything I do that I couldn't do with DH (or at least hiding away upstairs while he's downstairs).

That's why I really love a good business trip when it's just me. One of my secret pleasures is flying after I've had a few drinks. And I've finally become comfortable enough with myself (read: old) to enjoy a quiet restaurant meal by myself with a glass of wine and a good book. Also being able to stay out late and wake up "late."

DD and DH were gone for 24 hours.

I didn't realize how much I needed the break until I actually got it!

I took 5 showers just because I could.

I ordered in and ate on the couch.

I "stole" DH's chair to sit in.

I blasted music as loud as could.

I ate breakfast in peace and quiet.

And most importantly--I felt like myself again.

DH was gone last week until Friday and just left again today until Saturday (week 2 of 3!). I clean a lot more - like deep clean, go through papers, etc. It keeps me from getting too lonely after the kids go to bed at night.

Otherwise nothing different.

My DH works nights, so I'm alone Mon-Fri nights.

At first I was like, "yesss!! Independence! I can do whatever I want!!" And I would watch all the tv he hates, and order out, and drink whenever I wanted!
But now that it's become more routine, I get bored and lonely. It's not a treat when I get alone time anymore.
