Biting when teething...?

LO has lately shown some signs of possibly teething. She has been chewing her toys and hands and bottle nipples and my fingers like crazy and gets more intense about it every day. However she wants to chew with the side of her mouth, not the front where her first teeth will come in (typically). Is this normal behavior? I assumed she would be chomping down where her teeth were coming in, but she does not show much interest in biting anything with her front gums. I'm a FTM, so no idea if this is normal or what. Could she be getting other teeth first instead?

Re: Biting when teething...?

  • My 8 month old does the same...most of the chewing is off to the sides.  No idea why...I can see 2 bottom teeth in the gums about to pop...I think I can also see some teeth off to the sides on bottom (not next to the middle 2 but over a bit.

No idea if it means other teeth are coming first but I just assume its normal teething behavior.  That's where we chew our food so maybe it's just a born instinct to put things off to the side.
