Clothes for chunky baby girl

My 7 1/2 month old is growing out of her 12 month clothes and we're starting to use 18 months. She's always been chunky, but her thighs and waist are big that the 18 month old pants seem uncomfortable on her, especially around her waist. We live in Florida so we don't need a ton of cold weather clothes, but it's cool enough that she will have to have her legs covered. Anyone with an especially chunky baby girl have luck finding pants that are generous around the waist? I'm also looking for tights. TIA!

  • Have you looked at baby legs? They are super cute leg warmers so that way her legs can be covered, but you don't need to worry about the waist being too tight.

  • DS is 6 months & wears 18 month old pants. I think the number is just a guesss since babies don't all weigh the same. You can still buy from the stores you like just buy a bigger size. I don't think they make clothes for bigger babies
  • i know they can be more expensive then target or carters but i am finding baby gap has the best fitting pants for large babies.  my 8 month old is in 12-18 month old pants. they use a rib material that stretches around the legs.  they fit perfect!

Some times boys clothes are cut different then girls in the same brand. I never could get girls baby gap jeans on my daughter.

  • Same here. My DD is 8 months and about 26 lbs. The girls leggings at Old Navy are a great fit for her. I grabbed a few pairs from the clearance rack in a variety of sizes and am very happy with them. The 18 mo. leggings are good, but the 3T capris are PERFECT with a comfy waist band and just right length on the legs.

  • Jumping beans brand leggings from knolls work good for us! Any kind of stretchy pants (not jeans or cords) seem to work with our chunky legs
  • Baby Gap for my DD hasn't worked. The cut is way too slender. We're not only dealing with chunky legs but also a large belly :) I've been putting her in size 18 months, and found some leggings and tights at The Children's Place that work well. Luckily we live in South Florida so it's not long pant weather all the time.
