No Appetite... but feel hungry

This is my first pregnancy and the past week or so I have felt hungry (stomach growling, shaky at times) but when I think of eating I have no interest in food. Nothing sounds good and I get half way through a meal and could care less to finish. Any suggestions? I know I need to eat but I'm kind of at a loss. And any suggestions on how to get water down? I can't seem to force myself. Is seltzer bad to drink?

  • I'm having the same issues.  I drink water, though.  I think, just go in and be like, "okay, I don't care if it doesn't sound appetizing, I am going to eat this apple!".... that's what I do.  As far as the water, sometimes I find that adding ice and lemon helps.  I've been a large quantity water drinker for a long time as it helps with weight loss, and I don't mind the taste, so it doesn't bother me.

  • Keep trying! Go through your grocery store aisles and think about eating the food you see. If one doesn't instantly turn your stomach (even though it might later) buy it. It doesn't matter what you end up with (mind the pregnancy do's and dont's though) and hopefully you'll be able to choke something down. I know it's hard when food aversion takes over but your growing baby will need the nutrients. Just don't give up. Variety is key.

  • I have been feeling the same. My problem is I don't feel like anything but im hungry so i turn to chips or other snack food. It's been pretty awful and I haven't cooked dinner in about a week so it's even worse.

  • Bought a bottle of sparkling water this morning. It goes down better than reg water for me.

  • I had to force a sandwich down yesterday. I have zero interest in food. Which is polar opposite from my last pregnancy.

    I bought rice cakes for the times I can't choke anything else down.

    I literally read this, walked to my fridge and started eating an apple. It isn't really appetizing to me, but like you said, the nutrients are key. So thank you!
